Turn 57 to St Jon ---

I see that the Welsh diplomat has made it safely to the land of Inca. Welcome! Do you wish to have your diplomat teleported back home after your embassy is established?

Inca joins Spain in its hopes that the Greek and French governments can settle their grievances.

      Turn 57 to Madrid.

My Blessings be upon you all. With such a brotherhood of peace lovers in this World how can it ever be thought that there is even such a word as 'War'.

The Spanish are pleased that all the World's differences have so far been settled amicably!

Indeed, it is our faith in our neighbours and our thirst for knowledge, and therefore peace, that has led us to begin building the Wonder of Gallileo's Telescope...!

Spain does however have one question regarding the security or our fair and peaceful planet, which she hopes will not cause offence - but will instead foster even greater cultural ties and understanding between our nations...

Spain inquires why Australia's troops have an 'ON ALERT' status when the rest of the World's armies (indeed, is that the correct word for our uniformed young men!!?) enjoy a time of unrivalled peace? Perhaps if the Australians were to exchange maps with the rest of the World, she would see that there is nothing to fear...

Indeed, by not knowing the intentions of Australia - Spain has to find some way of alaying her own fears...

          Turn 57 ==> Stavros

          Breaker Morant,

I can only second the views aired by our mutual neighbour Tomas de Torquemada of Spain. The Austrlian withdrawal from all forms of diplomacy and foriegn interaction is not in itself a cause for alarm. However, we in Wales, being by far your closest neighbour, are somewhat concerned by your elevation to full military alert.

This, added to your rejection of our friendly advances to understand your people, and your hostility at any diplomatic movement within your territory, has caused a feeling of uneasiness to seep into Welsh minds.

Please alleviate these fears, an let the peasants of Wales go about their business without worry of what our secretive neighbours are plotting.

We have offered to exchange maps as a way of opening a new dialogue between us, as we believe our close promixity demands that our nations prosper through peace.

Quinns, I'm lurking around here, and if turn 50 was the first rated, I think we will then have this game go through it's first rated turns in a week.
I wanted the "Top 5" game, but you said we'd wait till the ratings aren't just alphabetically. I have made some calculations, and here are the conclusions: if the things will be going on the way they do, before the end of year 2000 we will also have played 10 turns in this game and the Eagles at War, so the thing will not be just alphabetically now.

              touchy touchy....

I'm not on FULL military status, I'm on standby, and have been almost since year dot...See my last post, I don't trust you bastards (pardon my Australian)...

As for not allowing diplomatic traffic, have I ever hindered a diplomatic thoroughfare!!!???

OK so I want my map to stay my own (see my last post re: bastards)

You people want to play lovey dovey... lets be freinds, I hope my esteemed neighbour gets more technology than me... well fine... do just that...

I have in no way intruded upon anyone elses teritory. I have in no way been agressive toward a neighbour. If I were sensitive about such topics, I could accuse you all of having alterior motives for wanting to know the positions of my cities...

I am open to ameniable and equal trade with all partners. Sure... I turn down a cow turd for a lump of gold, just as I turn down a map exchange because it has no value to me.

If you were true and open in your concerns for world peace, you would have no need to know what goes on within my border... (see re: bastards)

              Your amicable and ´blisfull neighhbour

Jesus Christ! No need to get personal Stavros. What is your problem man? Obviously we all have ulterior motives in this game... We are role playing and pretending to be diplomatic rulers (who mix in lies with truths, that's what they did in REAL history too!) If you want to start getting into personal attacks then I suggest you take it off of this bulletin board and I'll meet you in Hawaii where we can duke it out man to man. Don't call me a bastard, you warmongering jerk!

Wait a minute... were you just role playing too Stavros? If so, I'm sorry. You had me thinking you were calling us all bastards. If not, then let it stand.

                    Turn 57 to Quinns

Well, Athens has to concur that a nation who operates in secrecy, and maintains a high degree of military readiness tends to make their neighbours nervous.

Perhaps once the wise Breaker Morant has opened embassies with the other nations of the world, and can see for himself that all maintain a more oeaceful war readiness level, he will feel more relaxed, and reduce his own readiness.

Greece announces with pride the completion of the Pan-Hellenic Highway System, stretching uninterrupted from Naxos all the way to Mykonos, with an addition to Ithika soon to be completed!

Many of the brave men who toiled on this mamoth undertaking have not seen their homes for years! Through glaciers and desert they pushed on, until the final stretch was done. Now they return, to a hero's welcome!

(Geez... My RP must be convincing.... Quins: I thought you might have known me well enough from our other encounters to know that I NEVER get personal (If I'm not packing an Uzi ))
Furthermore in "Australian" bastard is quite an acceptable word to use amongst your peers. Breaker Morant faught in the Boer war with Bushveldt Carbineers (a South Australian Company), where he was falsely accused of killing a British Officer. He was subsequently court-martialed and put up before a firing squad. His last words were....
                        "Shoot strait you bastards".
The irony beginning to sink in!!!???
Australians will commonly refer to their friends with the coulerfull vernacular "bastard" merely as a form of emphasis. Lucky bastard, Sneaky Bastard, etc.
I go to pains to explain this, 'cause you Yanks are famous for your inability to see the funny side of insults (espacially if someone mentions your mother )

So lighten up Quinn, you uptight bastard

                          Out of turn ---

Very convincing, Stavros. Alright, I'll lighten up. Sorry, I really thought you were serious... YOU JERRY BASTARD! AND YOUR MAMA WEARS ARMY BOOTS!!
                          (I think I got it now )
                          ----
Well then, Oh Breaker Morant, the very diplomatically ignorant! If you wish to take on the whole world in order to prove your manhood, then go right ahead and see where it gets you. I see that you now have absolutely no supporters of your idiotic scheme to remain so very "secret"! Good luck in your madness.

                            Turn to Madrid.

His Purity is deeply dismayed that his children should find it neccessary to resort to insult and the questioning of the legitmacy of their brothers's and sister's legitimacy. Profanity, whilst not a mortal sin, is most certainly a venal one and I speak as one with my Brother of the Cloth, Tomas, in condemning this appalling display of moral decay.

Indeed the Grand Inquisition is most disturbed about the reports that so much of the population of this World has been born outside of the Holy Sanctity of Wedlock!!!??

We are moved to echo the words of our French brother of the cloth, St. Jon...

It is with great sadness indeed that Madrid has authorised it's volunteer force of Protectors Against Heresy to go to 'ON ALERT' status in the face of a possible incursion of children born out of wedlock into our lands! This alert will remain in force until the threat is perceived to have subsided...

Wales celebrates the long awaited opening of our Incan Embassy at Ocucaje. Only the great nation of France, with it's cities of immense stature awaits my personal envoy now.

King Quinns and Brother Tomas, I respectfully request that my personal envoy be allowed throughfare north up to the nation of France, utilising your clean and efficient highway systems wherever necessary so as to not overstay my welcome.
