But Repulbic for machine tools from the Welsh.... who you trying to kid mate?

Listen.´... I'm all for fair trade and all... but the emphasis is on the FAIR. Hey for all I know you bast...(oops.... almost said the B word, and we all know thats bad (notice smiley!!))

Aherm... Hey, for all I know you people send out these wierdo requests to every culture at every turn, and it is indeed only a flick of the wrist to have them dismissed, but I do wonder whether even within your own heart of hearts you consider them fair...

Oh... And little message to the Welsh, my esteemed and well endowed, peace loving, tree hugging, lollipop sucking neighbours. Get your Diplomat away from my cities.... If I'm not mistaken, this is the same recalcitrant that I threatened with expulsion even before we all invented pointy sticks!!! Back from his travels is he? Fine... Good... • Turn 60 to Quinns

Greece finds that we must agree with Australia after having just received a ludicrous ( and even insulting) trade offer from France.

And we notice that St Jon made mention of fruit twice while speaking of negotiations between our two countries. Perhaps he was thinking of his lunch, for nothing has been accomplished in those talks that could even remotely be described as fruitful. We begin to lose patience...

Again, the Incan war generals are aglow with joy at the sounds of brewing war. Though their mood is somber when discussing the situation with their leader, it is obvious to Quinns that they cannot wait for glorious battle! Quinns is much older than his younger generals, and, he likes to think, much "wiser".

Breaker Morant, within a stone's throw of Incan cities, just giddy for battle, and now Xenophon threatening France due to an apparent insult from a trade offer?? Their generals, obviously, are pushing them to settle their problems with the sword.

"Turn away from such talk before it is too late! If you live by the sword, you die by the sword." (I just made that up, pretty good huh? )

        • Turn 61 to Madrid.

My Children, I am deeply troubled by the militaristic talk that has spread across the land. The humble disciples of mine that make up the French nation are, like myself, 'Fruitarians', in that it is my belief that 'all life', not just human or even animal, is sacred. It is true indeed that an enormous value is placed upon fruit in France for to 'murder' a potato or an onion is a mortal sin and treated in the same way as killing your very brother. Please Noble Xenophon do know that the very highest compliment, apart from kissing my ring, in France is to be associated with fruit for it is the very life-blood of Civilisation.

If, as seems obvious, neither Australian or Greek Governments wish to be offerred the exchange of knowledged gleaned by the scribes of my congregation then be assured that no such offers will be made in future. This seems a recipe for forever languishing in the trough of ignorance but the choice is yours. Please accept my sincerest Blessing to help cure the wounds of any perceived insult but know that none was intended. You are both beloved to me and your happiness is ever in the forefront of my mind. I am mortified to think that by the actions of my Disciples you have been caused hurt or thought yourselves treated with disdain.

Love and Peace unto you all.

          Blessed be My Name,
          St Jon, Humility amongst Pride.

            Honorable St Jon,

I see that my diplomat has, perhaps, caused you to see the world in a way, similar to the Incans. We, also, believe that "all" life is Sacred. The gods (oops, I mean) Gods represent the Earth in all of it's wonder. We thought that the single God that you worshipped was only concerned with humanity and no other forms of life. It is good to see that you are beginning to see the truth.

              • Spain is noting with concern an increase in agitation between her fellow nations...

Up until now, all disputes have been settled fairly and amicably between nations - it
would be a sorry state of affairs if this suddenly changed after all the good work that
                has been accomplished!

The Grand Inquisition will take a very dim view of any nation being seen to obstruct
                or inflame any diplomatic process!

Welsh citizens bow down in awe of Spanish achievments. To honour your impending success, the Welsh have been granted a week free from community chores, enabling an increase in ale consumption.

                        • Turn 62 to Madrid.

                          My Beloved Children,

'Tis surely the 'Season of Goodwill' for at last an Exchange of Knowledge unrepugnant to My Australian Brothers has been found and through a series of lengthy negotiations, that truly can be described as 'fruitful', tensions with 'He who I love as my own child', Xenophon, seem to have eased. It is my dearest wish that my joy might be completed by his beauteous signiture upon the Peace Treaty forwarded to him.

If only the Virtuous Leader of the Australians were not so shy of sharing his cartographical knowledge he would be aware that he steps far too close to the Holy City of St Etienne and that his Archer is well within the Holy Land. A swift volte face upon his part would indeed prove most condusive to the burgeoning friendship between our Nations. Having established the loving relationship so long desired with my Brother of the Cloth, the ever gentle and just Tomas, and seemingly set fair for a similar state of affairs with Beloved Xenophon I would trust that my Northern Sees could relax in the knowledge that they too enjoyed a World free from aggression and hate.

Legendary Inca's know that even now my Missionary treads his weary path toward you in the hope of establishing a small Chapel. He was chosen personally by me as he has foresworn alcohol and begged to be allowed to travel unshod, hamstrung and carrying a Millstone around his kneck. Never again shall a similar affront to caused to another Nation as was to the Greeks by the ungodly behaviour of one of my disciples.

A thousand Blessings Brother Tomas for once again your wonderous 'Horse' was called into action. This time an entire chorus of a 120 Heretics sang in my praise and the congregation in Tours fair swooned with joy at the glory of my being! Many begged to join them that they might show their devotion but few could be spared for the streets did'st run thick with purified blood and I do'th need to think of earthly problems such as urban hygiene once in a while.

Do not think I forget you, Oh Primitive Sheperds, for my love extends even to the lowest of mortal beings. My Blessings upon you and your grazing animals at this time of celebration. All others may think you of no worth but to me you are as precious as a freshly picked strawberry and should you visit Paris I shall surely let both you and your lawfully, under Welsh law that is, wedded Ewe both Kiss My Ring.

                          Hallowed Be My Name!

                          St Jon, Tranquility amongst Tempest.

The Welsh people are being forced to to take a long hard look at their lifestyle, as the consumption of ale and assorted liqour are believed to be the major contributor to Welsh economic and scientific stagnation.

This is not something is is going down well in the villages, where the tavern is the common meeting place, and which brings in huge amounts of revenue. the closing of these establishments is not likely, however, the government may insist that they close for at least 4 hours per day.
