Locutus, why wouldn't we have a court?

Hasn't the CtP2DG shown its needed

Because we would have difficulties filling all the positions?

For the first elections in the CtP2DG we had only 9 people willing to run for 8 positions and the CtP2DG has a lot more members than we do. Merely going by statistics, you'd expect 6 or 7 people to be willing to run for an official position for this game. And with a Court of 3 members and 4 ministers, filling all positions every month could prove challenging...

We need a court. I heartily approve of Locutus' plan, except I'm a little concerned that the Domestic Minister has the duties of a Foreign Minister.

Actual I agree with Frozzy and Thud that we need a court, therefore I would rather and it needs also three members to garnt its neutrality and to make shure that it is not biased. Therefore we have to reduce the number of government positions on the other side on the side of the Ministers. Later in the game when we amount of work will increase and our comunity is bigger hopefully then can we still add some Ministers.

From the CTP2DG I think we did some mistakes due to the lack of experience now that i am more mature in this kinds of games. I even think the number of Positions may have to drop from 8 to less since for the second consecutive election we are having problem filling all the positions.
I believe you guys should stick to 4 positions and an unique judge who shall post polls for the cases that passed through his avaliation. Although some people are tully having fun as judges in our DG.

              I have an idea:

              PRESIDENT
              MINISTER OF DOMESTIC AFFAIRS
              MINISTER OF INFRASTRUCTURE
              MINISTER OF DEFENCE
              JUDGE

              Why a single judge? Simple:
              • Less ministerial/judge positions
              • He gets his evidence from the people, no need for more judges
              • Lets be honest... around 2-3 cases a month?
              • He can make his own recommendations, which must be unbiased and fair (otherwise risk credibility)

Sounds good to me. Also, apart from the recommendations of a case, and the 2-1 vote, why do we need the other two judges? The senior judge does all of the polls and elections, really.

Hey, I don't have the game, but I'm considering being a judge

Hey, dude, I cant be the judge tho...or i dunno

But I'm joining the game and wanting to be a judge, that is, until the ctp-dg constitution becomes to beuarocratic--baeurarocratic--beaurocratic--i think that's it--okay?

                  I can't be a judge under beauracot-forget it-conditions like teh civ3dg (civ3dg is great, but not if u're a gov.t dude)

(frozzy, u can convince anyone to do anything :P )

                        Ok, here goes.
I think the Minister of Domestic affairs should
also control the infrastructure, however I think
there should be a Minster of foreign affairs who
conducts diplomacy AND ALL TRADE. Also, any
judiciary should comprise 3 judges, with one
being the chief justice with the responsibility for
organizing elections and whatever else they do.
If elections are held monthly, then a judicial
position should be held for 3 months, with 1
judge elected every month and the senior
judge holding the position of chief justice,
for one month, at the end of thier 3 month
                        term as a judge.

2 months ago I would have agreed with you but the problem is that managing the cities and controling the infrastructure (PW) are both a lot of work. Combining them in one function would give the Domestic Minister more work than he can handle while the Foreign Minister wouldn't have much to do at all (diplomacy and trade doesn't involve more than posting a few simple polls every now and then).
So IMHO it's important to seperate city management from PW management, and to keep the government small I think it may be best to divide the tasks of the Foreign Minister between other cabinet members...

Also, any judiciary should comprise 3 judges, with one being the chief justice with the responsibility for organizing elections and whatever else they do. I couldn't agree more here

                              Okay, Second discussion topic...

                              Length of terms.

My opinion: Term begins on the 1st of each month. Elections begin 3 days before the end of the month, Term re-begins 1st of the month.

                              Any other ideas?
