It would be nice if someone could simulate something for me in civ4. (And it would also be nice if this someone was someone else than nye, as he's busy enought with the c3c isdg, and also done very much for us with stats and such already).
Start a new game on a standard size map with normal game speed and go into the worldbuilder before you settle. (Actually dont settle at all). Now remove all techs and then add all ancient era techs one and one again and see how much they add. It has already been proved it doesnt matter in which order you add them. Then post how much each tech add. 6,7,6... etc
(Someone handy with the sdk could maybe check this in the code?)
And could the same person or someone else start a game with the same settings, this time you can settle, but remove all techs. Then add population and see how much score each population add.(add up to about 15pop would be nice) Watch both the results in total score change and (by hovering with your mouse pointer over your score) see how the population score changes.
Please post any results here.
"Why?" - I want to understand how the score mechanics work so we can better follow whats happening in the game.
"But nye has already examined both of these issues.." - Yes, but im suspecting there might be some decimals involded and then any settled city with a pop could have had an effect on the outcome of nye's tech score sim and vice versa.
"Ok ok, but how will this help us?" - We'll be able to get rid of some questionmarks about the development of our rivals, and also gain another way to check the assumptions we've made regarding those.
