Call To Power 2 Cradle 3+ mod in progress: https://apolyton.net/forum/other-games/call-to-power-2/ctp2-creation/9437883-making-cradle-3-fully-compatible-with-the-apolyton-edition
Hey. I'm a long-time civ player and hopefully a first-time DGer.
I began playing Civilization in 1993. I joined Apolyton in 2000 and improved my game significantly. With some good luck, I was able to get an 1136 AC landing date on Deity, which was fairly good before the days of samson and solo. I was a frequent poster in Civ2 Strategy, but I found myself posting less as the site grew. Some great posters joined when Civ3 came, and I found it more useful to read than to post. However, I did help out on the Rhye's of Civilization mod, which became quite popular. In Civ4, I've finally begun playing some MP. However, my SP experience far outweighs any MP experience I have.
I'm a builder by nature, and I can play the building side of the game almost intuitively. I'm still fairly terrible at managing my armies in Civ4, because the combat system has become a little more complicated than it used to be. I'll be quiet and just watch the better generals work if we need to fight.
I expect I'll be fairly quiet until I get a good sense of how the team works, but I'll be able to drop by daily under most circumstances. I'm seventeen, in my junior year of HS. (Yes, that means I started playing civ when I was five. It took me a while to get good, though. ) My schedule is reasonably busy, but I can find time to post. I just won't always be able to make really long essays on why I believe we need a granary.
I'd like to join this team because, as I've mentioned, I am a regular reader of the strategy forums. Several members of this team have an impressive knowledge of the game, and have willingly shared it. I'm a decent player, and I can contribute, but I think that there's a lot to be learned from playing here.
If you want to know anything else, ask.

Maybe this team can use a diplomat. I'm awaiting what the mercenaries can offer me in terms of challenging diplomacy. When striving for winning diplomacy is always interesting, especially with the new features of Civ IV, with which I'm trying to familiarize myself. Oh the past weeks were disastrous! I slept at the most awkward times.
In terms of players it'll be lots of fun I think, especially if your involvement will remain high, Beta.

...and don't take a delay as a judgement on your acceptibility to the group. I am in the process of getting added as a moderator for the team so that I can take care of details like this, but am awaiting MarkG's attention.
And, we will be happy to have diplomats and younger enthusiasts join!

That's good to know. I'll be happy to help plan the opening. I'm very familiar with using Elizabeth. Both the starting techs and the traits are absolutely top-notch. A well-chosen civ under any circumstances. Forests and fishing resources can be harvested immediately for quick growth.

I'm still not sure, but because E_N is member of the Mercenaries, I might join this team. We might otherwise have a few clashes and I want to have fun. RL is stressfull enough. I only hope my ideas won't clash with the rest of the people in this team. There is nobody on the list I have a problem with, but I want to avoid the personal frustrations I had in the Roleplay team and which I expressed only near the end of Roleplay as an independent team. Also I have bad memories about the first ISDG in which I had a major clash. There are many experienced people here and I know we decide by democratic vote but sometimes elites form and I hate it. The elite gets heard and anything the rest says falls on deaf ears. It was in my opinion the case in both demogames I mentioned, because they were very hierarchical. That's my honest doubt about joining this team.
But bring my membership up in the forum and lets see what others think of it. And how they think about the issues I mentioned and if they recognise it.
I'm interested how you guys think about it. It will help a lot for me to decide which team I'll choose.

I cannot see any issues with what you are saying. I certainly hope that we don't go into the "elite" rathole. I certainly do not see it happening yet and I believe that our team is exceedingly amiable - and we will work to keep it that way. We are striving to be as democratic as possible while still needing to arrive at a decision (!!).
I do not know about the frustrations you are referring to. If you would like to PM me with detailed concerns I will be happy to keep them confidential and to see about addressing them.

I decided to join this team in part because of the exchange between E_N and existing team members, where I thought the team's response was right on target. My concern was also on elites drowning out newcomers, since most of my time in the Civ community has been on CFC. From what I've seen so far this team is open to new faces and are willing to let someone jump right in at their preferred degree of involvement.
Aidun has to join the Civ Group, he has not done so yet.
Welcome to Sarantium.
