                    It is Sarantium. It is from a Guy Gavriel Kay novel, "Sailing to Sarantium". Historical fiction loosely based on the Byzantine empire.

                    And oh yes, victors of the first Civ4 demo game.

                            I like all his novels.. most ahve a historical touch

                            although most I have read, aren't really historical touch (the setting is inspired by history.. but is different, just has a similiar feel)

                              Yeah, Kay's books are kinda neat... you know right away that something is (very loosely) based on Spain, Italy, whatever, but there is a lot of fantasy to it too, IIRC: magic, etc.
