What teams are playing?

Amen to that. It's too early. Many (most?) of the community doesn't have the game yet. There are some bugs, and most likely it will turn out there are some balance issues as well, despite the best efforts of the testing team. Plus, we're all a bunch of newbies now... I'd rather I had a little more experience with the game before we fire up something like this.

I think the next thing we should do is have private forums get set up (at the same time as we finalize current team requests)

then we can discuss things like map settings/civs in our forums...

and after that we can start playing

I personally figure that if we get our private forums today, we won't get started until Dec

and while that woudl be fine.. I would like to get started before the end of Jan

G'day to the community. I have been considering not to join a team due to unpleasant experiences in my first demo game. Yet I have a idea spooking through my head. I would like to join with a team of all Dutch speaking (writing in the private forum) people. A joint effort of The Netherlands, Belgium and maybe even South Africa. However, if the number of teams has come to its limit I'll abandon my plans.

ixnay on-they op-say ecret-say orums-fay. Only bananarama has the need for top secret forums. We're out in front with all out, well mostly con's, warts.

Speaking of super secret forums....

We need several things to get together, before we can actually get this game started. So, lets list them:

1) Private Forums
2) Admins for the game, with access to ALL forums
3) Ruleset that is debated and agreed on by all team members. This includes the proper powers for the admin(s) to take whatever measures are required, by the ruleset, if needed.
4) Game type (mapsize, difficulty, ect)
5) Selection of civs for each team (in past games, providing a choice of 3 civs, ranked from 1 to 3, to the admins. They make final decision, for who gets what - had worked very well).
6) Getting last little things out of way and getting the game started.

Yeah, this is a long process, but we can get a start. While we start getting things going, some of the others (like the patch issue) might take care of itself.

One thing that I have to stress. The American Thanksgiving, followed by the Christmas season are going to be apon us very soon. In my last couple of year experiance with DG's, this is a time when those games suffer from people being on holiday, away from home or just out doing the Xmas thing... So, in light of this, it wouldn't be reasonable to try to start this before the begining of next year.

So, we have time to get most of the above done by then.

Let's not rush into this.

I would hope that you had learned something from the incident at the other game. Im beginning to think not.

I and a LOT of others who will be participating in this game will be pushing hard for total and complete access to all private forums for the admins.

If you and your teams dont like it, maybe you should consider taling your team elsewhere.

And posts like that above certainly will not help your case.

Oh, we're back to the private forum issue again?

I really don't understand what is so averse to an impartial entity (admin) having acces to your forum. They aren't playing the game, just watching. What's the harm?

Of course should the admin has full access to privet forum, it something is written their that is so bad that the admins shouldn't see it, it should not be written at all.
