I would like to stay a part of the team and participate in a cIV MP demogame. The only problem is that (due to RL issues) I'm unlikely to get the game on release.
If I'm posting here then Counterglow must be down.

Well, you can look at that in 2 different ways, but the main one, is that I live in Europe, so I can't buy the game until November...

I'm in... and I think we should definately have some fresh blood. We held up pretty nicely over the years, not many have left the team, but that doesn't say we stil have enough active people to fill a SP team.

So... would anyone be interested in joining the Storm? Expect a friendly atmosphere with loads of debate threads you are welcome to join. Being a Stormian can do wonders to your postcount

We have never closed membership to GS, what I'm concerned we still have the same policy as 2 years ago. That is, unless there is a good reason why anyone on the team wants to black-ball someone, everybody is allowed in. That includes bearded women or ex-bearded-women-lovers.

Every extra opinion is a valid one, the only problem is that with more opinions to discuss, you also increase time needed before consensus is reached. But we'll work on that this time... promise

Having a relatively large team was helpful in the last demogame. There were at least 3 or 4 different "eras" to our team, when a smallish group of players would run the team for a while before gradually fading into the background as Real Life took over. Other members of the team would then step up - it all happened quite organically from what I can remember.

Basically it's very tough for 5-10 players to run a whole demogame team for the 12-18 months these things tend to last. The more the merrier, and as long as you have a system where the most crucial matters can be decided via a poll it's easier for actual decisions to be taken.

Discussing the strategy is most of the fun (at least that's what most GS'ers find the most fun ), but in practice you just have to draw a line under the talk and make a decision. The size of the team shouldn't make that any more difficult.

You can't have a 500 post thread about where to move each and every worker, but I think we came close a few times.

uh, FP, PTWDG lasted 31 months...And I count 6 eras: nye/SR at the start; Nathan until start of Bobian War; nye/Theseus/ShiberFor start of Bobian War; CH for end of Bobian War and some peaceful building; DeepO for the end of Hoover build and ended with the capture of Abiline; Aeson for the end of the game.

And you can have a 940+ post turn thread(s) on where to move 8 artillery, 20 tanks and one marine, IIRC...

Hey, that move annihilated one of the biggest civs in one turn time, it was worth the spam! I remember that it seemed that we slowed 'poly down that night, because of all the refreshs and views happening in our forum...

If the Mercenary concept is beaten down, or does not generate much interest I might be interested in lurking purely for a learning experience.

UnO, I was thinking we could also use a historian of sorts, seeing that Trip has been too busy to publish his memoirs

I quit GS a couple of times because the forum was so voluminous it was taking some serious time out of RL. All good stuff though!

I would love to be part of this team again, on the condition that we introduce a maximum post length and number per thread.

                            Seriously, count me in please.

I think I was in GS, but I never learned what a democracy game was untill now, I would like to be on the team, if anything just to learn all kinds of strategy from you guys.
