Forgive me if this was mentioned, but what sort of time-frame are people thinking of starting this up in? I mean, I'm sure Lego would love to reform, but for me personally, I'd like some time to get used to the game before jumping into an MP Demogame.
I make movies. Come check 'em out.

If there is enough interest, a forum will be created when Civ4 is released. It would seem wise to start discussing the settings etc only then, because by that time you'll have a fair idea of how many people are actually interested in participating and at least some people will have had a chance to play Civ4 a few times, so they'll have some idea of which settings are most interesting/suited for a DG (and also if the game is stable enough to allow a DG to run problem free). Based on the current list, I don't think it would be wise to run an MP game: just 15 sign-ups with quite a few of those provisional or with only limited time to participate. Might be better to start an SP game first (then again, that would depend on how many people sign up between now and release day). That would also give full disclosure into the runnings of the game, which would give everyone a good opportunity to learn Civ4 (and the concept of a Democracy Game as we'll likely have many newbies joining the community around/after release day).

There are already team-based PBEM's being set up, no?

Who concurs this should start as a single player democracy?

I think that's a bad idea as well without having a clue what the game will be like or when everyone will have the game and get it running (you'll always see that at least one of the players can't get his hands on the game for the first 3-4 weeks or he can but the game won't run because of hardware issues -- I've been there, more than once), but that's up to those people...

I think a single-player Demogame is a good way to start, as Locutus said, to help get people into the game. Once that wraps up (or when people feel ready), we can start up the MP DG to let the real fun begin

I think what Ninot meant by team based PBEM's was PBEM in the cooperative mode.

And we are going to have to get that SP Demo Game going quickly because the teams for the multi team game are already talking and forming

Z_X are we going to see Lego reborn

I suspect it will more likely be the "when people feel ready" timing as opposed to the SP game wrapping up.

In fact - I would not take the head count here as reflective of interest. If you polled in the current C3CDG you would likely get a lot more folks. I know of a couple of teams that have already loosely formed and are committed to playing. I suspect we would have little problem in pulling together a 6 team MP demo game.

Good to see a familar face from Civ2 looking at Civ4, there have been far too few.

Wow! I'm surprized you remeber! I tryed Civ3 DG, but I never like the patry system, so I drop out, (ran and won once the forgein minister spot, at the beginning of a campaign, didn't like it)

But, with Civ4, I'll tryed again... but I still don't fully get it.

I don't think that any of us "fully get it" at this point in time ... (except for maybe Solver and Markos!)
