  • Turn 105 - 275 BC

Cottage ready in AB. New citizen placed to work it. EDIT: Damn... When I replayed the turn to fulfill the Horde's change in strategy, I think I forgot to place the new AB citizen on the cottage... I guess it's not a huge loss.

Port Lima completes barracks. Horse archer placed in queue.

Fort Sierra completes horse archer. Needs new build.

Workers building road to EC moved 1.

Southern axe moved 3. Uncovers 2 Sarantine axes and 1 spear.

Southern spear moved 2 on top of Horde scout.

EDIT: Received new instructions from the Horde and just now noticed... They changed their strategy. So instead of an all out attack, I have moved 2 chariots onto Ocala horse tile and pillaged both road and pasture. With the wounded chariot, I pillaged the road under the main stack, and then set him to heal. The 4 axes attack Ocala. 3 die. 1 survives, killing the archer with city defender promotion. The 2 spears dig in.

    Units remaining in Ocala:

    Score:

    Power:

    Mfg:

    GNP

    Crop yield:

I give horde a .1% of success taking the place-as far as i can tell it just isnt possible for horse archers to beat dug in spears and if they have axes, they will need tons(but they said they had horse archers). Very interested in next few turns-are we being betrayed? or is horde actually going to take the city and sarantium? or is horde as inept as sarantium

We could move that archer in the southern jungle city could safely move out for a LOS boost, btw. I saw this proposed before but not sure what happaned

The fact that the Horde didn't want us to immediately suicide our units on Ocala makes me think they are serious about screwing things up for Sarantium, and that we are not being betrayed. Hopefully the past enmity between the two teams is strong enough to carry over into this game. As for their tactics... we shall see. Best not underestimate either team.

As for the LOS boost. I must have missed the suggestion to move the archer out.

Yeah, move him to the hill in the SE and give him the hill promo.

Couple things to point out when I opened the save:

All our units were killed off around Ocala. The Sarantine axes and spear move 9. Where shall we move the axe?

Two Keshik show up next to our southern spear (who is sitting on top of their scout).

And another Keshik shows up near Echo Cove. Not sure we should be moving that archer anywhere right now.

So as a summary. Sarantium destroys 5 of our units around Ocala. Ocala is not taken by Keshik that were claimed to have been on their way. AND 3 Keshik show up to our south.

              The event log:

Many of these troop names I have seen before. I've been trying to dig through some of our previous threads to find them, but as of yet have not been successful. I had thought they were originally around Khan's Throne.

(Sorry about the poor quality. Not sure why it looks like that. The screenshot default jpeg compression must be pretty high...)

Last info on troops in Ocala:

Incidentally, I believe that the Horde would have no way of knowing what happened to our units after Sarantium's turn, so... If they don't ask us for an update then we can be quite certain they are in collusion with Sarantium. So perhaps we should just play the turn and not send them any updates. In the past Paddy has asked me what the situation is when I have not had time. Last turn my emails did not get through to him and he sent me a couple requests for info. If he doesn't ask for anything this turn, then we can assume he got his info from elsewhere. Right?

On second thought, if we had any units left we would need instructions from the Horde before sending the turn onwards, so my little plan has a hitch... anyway...

                  Axe moves 7
Spear near foxtrot moves 8 to get back in the city

What was clear a few turns ago is now even more clear on the map-we have been betrayed and burnt our big stacks. I would note that in real life mercenary armies have more of a sense of self preservation than was displayed here

Urgent:the keshik south of foxtrot can beat the spearman back to the city, and foxtrot has only a chariot and an archer. I suggest declaring war on the horde, which will teleport of spearman back off their scout and still leave it with a movement point to spend. Alternatively we need to switch production in foxtrot to a spearman yesterday

The archer in echo cove needs to be given the city defense promotion ASAP. The archer will then have 15% fortified bonus, 70% city defense bonus, and 25% for hill=120%. This gives it about 6.6 versus the unpromoted keshik. If they bring up a second keshik that city is doomed. Im surprised they didnt build a ger+barracks for experience.

Isn't the ger a warlords addition?

                    Anyhow.

City is not doomed. It's at least 4 turns till they can hit it.

I vote for forting the spear and the axe. The LOS is more valuable than trying to get back for a possible attack.

New horse archer needs to move south to support either foxtrot or echo.
Get the chariot near Lima on the road network (7).
Upgrade the chariot in foxtrot to a horse archer.
                    FS produce spear.

Foxtrot hits size 5 and puts out a horse archer in 3 turns. We'll want to pop a spear or axe after that there.

So, in 4 turns (first possible attack), Foxtrot will have an archer, a spear (from FS 2 turn production, 2 turn move), an axe from FS if it becomes apparant we're going to be attacked, and 4 horse archers (2 chariots upgraded, 1 in FS now, new one built in foxtrot).

But, we'll likely lose the gems and ponies if they attack and are smart at all.

How long to border expansion on echo?

A keshik could hit echo city next turn. I said if they had two keshiks, it would be doomed. With our archer having city defense promo, the keshik will have a 30% chance shot at winning. Echo will get a cultural expansion in two turns but even with another 20% two keshiks will take it. But, we should be able to get more troops there before then, no problem.

Those pair of keshik can hit foxtrot in 3 turns. We need to get a spear in there before then-no, the city wont fall to two keshiks but a spearman would eliminate any concern of needless loss. Actually, that axe near the sarantium border, it could go 8 and slow the sarantium axes+spear down by a turn. If we give it the combat 1 promotion first it will be safe from the sarantium stack(first axe will have about 10% odds, second with damage maybe 20-30%).

Anyway there appears to be no immediate loss of cities threatened.

Isn't the ger a warlords addition?

Are there any turns left on the peace deal with the Horde?

Also, now we're out from under contract with the Horde, we need to ask for:

                        Settler from Horde
COULD ask for Peace with Sarantium. The issue of the killed off chariot there.

I'm not going to play the turn tonight. Too tired. If someone else cares to, please feel free to do so. If not, I'll try to do it in the morning.

We do not have a peace treaty with them.

I have a feeling that settler is not coming.

Im going to a high school football game and will be back about 10:00 EST. I can play and send the sav if there is some consensus what to do with the troops before then.

                              Alright. If that's true...

                              What happened then?

Seriously, from a mechanics point of view.

We were at war with them till turn 102, correct?

We agreed to peace. Mandatory in-game 10 turn cooling off period before being able to declare war again. Right?

If the DLL/patch messed this up, it's quite serious, IMO.

I can't look it up tonight. Can someone open turns 102 and 103 and tell me what our diplo status with the Horde is in each?

My only potential explaination is I believe polar said he sent a CEASEFIRE in a PM to the Horde , but in the next post said we were at PEACE. If IN GAME ceasefire was initiated before peace, peace, it may bypass the 10 turn waiting period, and it's a lesson learned. Was counting on the cooling down period to gather troops in case an attack came.
