  • 650 BC : start of the war!

    first part of turnchat:

[2:26:08] Kenneth Ferland zegt: turns here
    [7:32:49] Pieter-Jan Busschaert zegt: good
[7:37:42] Pieter-Jan Busschaert zegt: banana warrior didn't move to road. warrior + settler are clearly moving towards city spot A from their screenshot
[7:38:18] Pieter-Jan Busschaert zegt: GS warrior is invisible at opening of the turn
[7:38:50] Pieter-Jan Busschaert zegt: He must be retreating SE
[7:41:32] Pieter-Jan Busschaert zegt: the island west is no island
[7:46:04] Pieter-Jan Busschaert zegt: I assume both our new chucks can be moved in for the attack ? Or do we want some defense ?
[7:47:37] Pieter-Jan Busschaert zegt: for the banana war : we can kill their warrior and capture their worker this turn
[7:47:45] Pieter-Jan Busschaert zegt: do we do it ?
[7:53:00] Pieter-Jan Busschaert zegt: capturing their settler will not delay anything
[7:53:13] Pieter-Jan Busschaert zegt: killing their warrior will delay that unit for 1 turn
[7:53:15] ForesterSOF zegt: yes; that way we dont have to worry about a stray unit atacking us
[7:55:28] Pieter-Jan Busschaert zegt: I'd like killing their warrior because they get valuable information about our attacking units through it
[7:56:33] ForesterSOF zegt: we may also get XP for the unit depending on circumstances
[7:56:59] ForesterSOF zegt: the benefits outway the risks in my book
[7:57:24] Pieter-Jan Busschaert zegt: the question (for next turn) will be, do we also delay the unit which took their settler, and use a combined stack of 4 units to attack; or do we start the attack with 1 unit
[7:57:38] Pieter-Jan Busschaert zegt: there are no risks forester
[7:57:51] Pieter-Jan Busschaert zegt: I even doubt we'll get XP from such an easy kill
[7:58:07] ForesterSOF zegt: wait 4 4. 1 would be to vulnerable
[8:00:10] Pieter-Jan Busschaert zegt: ok, I'll post screenshots + this short chatlog + midturn
    [8:02:40] Weedy zegt: me on

        [8:07:08] Weedy zegt: hmm
[8:08:27] Weedy zegt: about chucks - no defense, Bananas will be dead before any counterattack
[8:08:32] Weedy zegt: you noticed Gs has construction?
[8:08:33] Simon Gall zegt: I'd move the scout onto Splitsville before declaring war though
        [8:08:44] Weedy zegt: humm
        [8:09:03] Weedy zegt: ok
[8:09:13] Simon Gall zegt: indeed they do
[8:09:27] Simon Gall zegt: Vox will not survive much longer...
[8:09:38] Pieter-Jan Busschaert zegt: scout is already on splitsville
[8:09:48] Pieter-Jan Busschaert zegt: not much interesting to see there
[8:09:50] Weedy zegt: well it's minimum 10 turns before they get their cats in place
        [8:09:54] Weedy zegt: I'd say 15
        [8:09:57] Simon Gall zegt: yeah
        [8:10:05] Simon Gall zegt: also
[8:10:30] Simon Gall zegt: post your moves in here so that we can follow
        [8:10:39] Weedy zegt: now
[8:10:49] Weedy zegt: forest is cleared near Xian
[8:10:59] Pieter-Jan Busschaert zegt: I'm uploading the midturn I have to the forum
        [8:11:08] Simon Gall zegt: ok
[8:11:18] Simon Gall zegt: I'll dl and continue from that one
[8:13:14] Weedy zegt: you need to go PJay?
[8:13:21] Pieter-Jan Busschaert zegt: no, not really
[8:13:48] Pieter-Jan Busschaert zegt: but when I saved midturn and created the screenshots nobody was active here yet
        [8:14:00] Pieter-Jan Busschaert zegt: I didn't move millitary
[8:14:18] Weedy zegt: ok well, what are waiting for then
[8:14:20] Weedy zegt: let's do it
        [8:14:26] Weedy zegt: everyone agreed?
[8:14:33] Pieter-Jan Busschaert zegt: attack warrior with axe or chuck?
        [8:14:41] Weedy zegt: with chuk
        [8:14:46] Simon Gall zegt: yeah
[8:14:47] Weedy zegt: if it gets xP
[8:14:50] Weedy zegt: it will be much more valuable
[8:14:52] Simon Gall zegt: give our better units xp
[8:15:01] Simon Gall zegt: it'll get 1 for sure, I'd say
[8:15:15] Weedy zegt: you already did anarchy, yes?
        [8:15:28] Pieter-Jan Busschaert zegt: yes
[8:15:41] Pieter-Jan Busschaert zegt: and changed tassagrad to new chuck; xian to missionary
        [8:15:49] Weedy zegt: ok
[8:15:57] Weedy zegt: Xian will output 2 missionaries in successive turns
[8:16:03] Pieter-Jan Busschaert zegt: missionary is 36/40 completed
[8:16:10] Pieter-Jan Busschaert zegt: due to chopping
        [8:16:13] Weedy zegt: yup
        [8:16:21] Pieter-Jan Busschaert zegt: I'll declare war now ....
[8:16:24] Weedy zegt: then 3 turns, sorry
        [8:16:25] Weedy zegt: do so!
[8:17:09] Simon Gall zegt: we should send them an email as soon as we are done
        [8:17:51] Pieter-Jan Busschaert zegt: combat odds : 100% : 6 vs 1.3 :: done without damage
[8:18:24] Simon Gall zegt: 5 exp, enough for 2 promos
        [8:19:06] Pieter-Jan Busschaert zegt: yes
[8:19:19] Pieter-Jan Busschaert zegt: now taking our free worker
[8:19:33] Simon Gall zegt: do we build one more road tile with the new worker?
        [8:19:48] Weedy zegt: yes
[8:19:52] Weedy zegt: one more east I think
[8:20:03] Weedy zegt: and then we can evac one worker back to help growth
[8:20:21] Pieter-Jan Busschaert zegt: both workers on same tile for now?
        [8:20:26] Pieter-Jan Busschaert zegt: they'll be unguarded
        [8:20:28] Weedy zegt: no, why?
[8:20:35] Weedy zegt: one east building road
[8:20:44] Weedy zegt: other just finished road
[8:21:13] Pieter-Jan Busschaert zegt: the new one, where exactly should it build the road (respective to the last part of the road)
        [8:21:20] Weedy zegt: right east
[8:21:21] Pieter-Jan Busschaert zegt: East of our road or NE
        [8:21:29] Simon Gall zegt: east
        [8:21:38] Pieter-Jan Busschaert zegt: ok
[8:21:52] Pieter-Jan Busschaert zegt: let's hope they don't take it back, although that wouldn't be such a big loss
[8:21:56] Weedy zegt: our chuck can get +25% vs arrchers now yippee!
        [8:22:00] Weedy zegt: they cannot
[8:22:06] Weedy zegt: they only have 3 warriors
[8:22:07] Simon Gall zegt: one can
[8:22:17] Simon Gall zegt: and still no archery
[8:22:31] Pieter-Jan Busschaert zegt: ok, there are no units in sight from our new worker
[8:22:39] Weedy zegt: lol, still no archery
        [8:22:43] Pieter-Jan Busschaert zegt: nope
[8:22:47] Simon Gall zegt: great, that means they can't take it back
[8:23:53] Pieter-Jan Busschaert zegt: ok, I also moved our other units towards banana, all movements are done now
        [8:23:59] Weedy zegt: no wait
        [8:24:02] Weedy zegt: workers
[8:24:08] Weedy zegt: cancel building of watermill
[8:24:16] Weedy zegt: it will need to go chopping now
[8:25:28] Pieter-Jan Busschaert zegt: if your "now" means it has to move this turn, that will be impossible
[8:25:36] Pieter-Jan Busschaert zegt: if you mean for next turn, it's ok
[8:25:55] Simon Gall zegt: next turn xian will do a missionary, and two turns later he'll do another one, right?
        [8:26:03] Weedy zegt: humm wait
[8:26:12] Weedy zegt: Im looking at the build plan now
[8:26:34] Weedy zegt: it can continue for 2 more turns
[8:26:42] Simon Gall zegt: we'll get 12+6=18 hpt there with forge + org rel
[8:26:45] Weedy zegt: so, no biggie if you cancelled
[8:26:55] Pieter-Jan Busschaert zegt: if we move both workers at the same time, they will finish their chops at the same turn too, won't they ?
[8:26:57] Weedy zegt: no, org rel doesn't help units
        [8:27:05] Simon Gall zegt: oh
[8:27:13] Weedy zegt: yes and we should move in 575BC
[8:27:22] Weedy zegt: or whatever that turn is called
        [8:27:25] Pieter-Jan Busschaert zegt: lol
[8:27:43] Weedy zegt: basically in 3 turns
[8:27:59] Pieter-Jan Busschaert zegt: so, what will our other worker need to do for the remaining 2 turns ? help with the watermill for a turn?
[8:28:02] Simon Gall zegt: anyways, what's on queue in xian after the two missionaries?
        [8:28:04] Weedy zegt: http://www.apolyton.com/forums/showt...04#post4940704
[8:28:21] Simon Gall zegt: why not stick an archer there and move the chuko forward...
[8:28:23] Weedy zegt: that's a good idea PJay!
[8:28:31] Weedy zegt: dont need an archer
[8:28:45] Weedy zegt: when we need we can do one in 2 turns
[8:28:46] Simon Gall zegt: barb defense, cheaper than other units
        [8:29:00] Simon Gall zegt: exactly
[8:29:04] Weedy zegt: yes but we have no barbs in sight and all 3 of our cities are about to expand
[8:29:28] Weedy zegt: okay, did you move settler too, PJay?
[8:29:32] Simon Gall zegt: well, in case we spot barbs before then, if we don't no need
[8:29:50] Pieter-Jan Busschaert zegt: yes, settler moved north
[8:29:57] Pieter-Jan Busschaert zegt: he's one turn from final destination
[8:30:10] Pieter-Jan Busschaert zegt: did you see the island, which is not really an island ?
        [8:30:16] Weedy zegt: yes
[8:30:21] Weedy zegt: it is an island I think
[8:30:38] Simon Gall zegt: 3 tiles at least
[8:30:51] Pieter-Jan Busschaert zegt: so, I'll send the turn on then?
[8:30:54] Weedy zegt: yes I doubt the continents would be so close
[8:31:01] Simon Gall zegt: with another hill, it can be a pretty nice city spot
[8:31:05] Pieter-Jan Busschaert zegt: or do we need a public declaration of war first
[8:31:32] Weedy zegt: yes, it appears all is done
[8:31:42] Weedy zegt: no, we can prepare it until after sara's turn
[8:31:46] Simon Gall zegt: moved both city garrison chukos foward?
[8:31:51] Weedy zegt: because mercs and sara wont know about the war anyways
[8:32:19] Pieter-Jan Busschaert zegt: yes, both city garisson chucks moved forward
[8:32:35] Pieter-Jan Busschaert zegt: ok, I'm endturning then...
        [8:32:38] Weedy zegt: yes
[8:32:40] Simon Gall zegt: then I guess that's it
[8:33:59] Weedy zegt: did judaism spread in Beijing PJay?
[8:34:19] Simon Gall zegt: nope :-/
        [8:34:19] Weedy zegt: PJay!!!
[8:34:26] Weedy zegt: It did in my file
[8:34:38] Simon Gall zegt: hmm... odd
[8:34:53] Weedy zegt: PJay! don't send it!
        [8:35:04] Pieter-Jan Busschaert zegt: yes
        [8:35:06] Weedy zegt: phew
[8:35:09] Pieter-Jan Busschaert zegt: it did spread in my file too
        [8:35:13] Weedy zegt: superb!
[8:35:15] Pieter-Jan Busschaert zegt: didn't send it on yet either
[8:35:22] Weedy zegt: I just thought it didn't
[8:35:26] Weedy zegt: you can send then
[8:35:28] Pieter-Jan Busschaert zegt: somehow I think those notices should be bigger
        [8:35:32] Pieter-Jan Busschaert zegt:
        [8:35:35] Weedy zegt: indeed
[8:35:36] Simon Gall zegt: hmm.. I must have done something different
[8:35:45] Weedy zegt: you didnt cancel worker action, right?
[8:35:53] Simon Gall zegt: ah, right
[8:36:07] Pieter-Jan Busschaert zegt: cool, cancelling a worker action to get religion
        [8:36:21] Weedy zegt:
[8:36:30] Weedy zegt: Ok, next turn we can do another anarchy then
[8:36:33] Pieter-Jan Busschaert zegt: we should really try to predict the RNG, we would be even more successfull
[8:36:34] Weedy zegt: what do you think?
[8:37:01] Simon Gall zegt: shall we still build the second missionary and send it with the army?
[8:37:08] Weedy zegt: no, to the 4th city
[8:37:20] Weedy zegt: it will help it quickly build necessary infra
[8:37:31] Simon Gall zegt: the second missionary
[8:37:42] Simon Gall zegt: first one will go to 4th city
[8:37:52] Simon Gall zegt: 2nd with army instead of beijing
[8:38:26] Pieter-Jan Busschaert zegt: ok, I have to go now
[8:38:29] Pieter-Jan Busschaert zegt: cu all
        [8:38:46] Simon Gall zegt: bye
[8:38:47] Weedy zegt: sent the turn?
[8:38:54] Pieter-Jan Busschaert zegt: foreign intelligence will be for later today
[8:38:57] Pieter-Jan Busschaert zegt: yes, turn sent
        [8:39:01] Weedy zegt: ok, good!
[8:39:13] Weedy zegt: I think we dont need 2nd missionary yet
[8:39:17] Weedy zegt: rather another chuck

Yeah! The Banana Peel starts with a good success on the very first turn!

              Further timeline:

              - in 3 turns we arrive unto the hill near Banana 3rd city and know how much units we need to take it (their units + 1 just in case)
              - in 4 turns Banana 3rd is done
              - in 7 turns most of our units have arrived at their cap
              - in 8 turns Banana cap should be done (assumed defender count - 4, consisting of 2 warriors and 2 archers)

              Blitzkrieg!

You know what's the funny thing - Bananas won't even know what hit them as only the unit name will show up in the event log.

well, we'll need to use some attacking moves on the 3rd city which means those units will skip any movement that turn.
There will be only 1-2 units near their cap that wont be used on attack on 3rd city and will arrive early enough to manage an attack on 7th turn.

                      Let's see...

                      Next turn:
Road finished by Worker, Slave starts road on desert tile, ax moves 3, chuko moves 3, stack moves 96, slacker chuko fords river.
N+1: Worker moves onto desert, road finished, both workers frozen. Chukos x2 + Ax move 63 to recently roaded desert tile. Slacker ax moves 96, other ax moves 3 with stack or 9 to hill (a chuko can do this as well)
N+2: Chukox2 + Ax + 2xWorkers move to Hill, adjacent to nana 3rd. Slacker Chuko 63 to desert road. Northern axe 9
N+3: Nana 3rd taken, investment of 1-3 units. Workers road hill, both hill and desert now in neural lands. Slacker chuko can do 69 onto grass with 2-0 units unused in city assault. Northern Axe 9 again onto another hill, we see defenses on nana cap.
N+4: Workers free, northern axe 3 onto forest adjacent to nana cap. Slacker Chuko + 2-0 unused units 9 to grass adjacent to nana cap. 1-3 Units used to attack nana 3rd can 9 or 6-9 onto grass if we think axe, slacker chuko + 2-0 units not enough to take nana cap, else move towards nana 2nd / heal / go on vacation.
N+5: 2-4 units able to assault nana cap. 3-1 units possibly join them, advance on nana 2nd, chat up the good-loking nurses, or go sunbathing.
N+6: Nanna cap ours for sure, unless the One True Yang decides to forsake us and drop a planet buster onto beijing.

We really need to get the unit names cemented, for one thing we want to name them specifically in the glorious ware reports we will be putting out over the next 10 turns.

I'd like to propose we atleast finalize the following names

The promoted Chuck that fired the first shots of the war: Chuk-O-Noris

The Axman that capture the Banana Squaters (yes we should refere to them as such in our DoW): Spine Breaker
Companions the creator seeks, not corpses, not herds and believers. Fellow creators, the creator seeks - those who write new values on new tablets. Companions the creator seeks, and fellow harvesters; for everything about him is ripe for the harvest. - Thus spoke Zarathustra, Fredrick Nietzsche

Battle logs are not required, to answer N35's question via msn. Certainly not discouraged and polite, but not mandatory since they're available through in-game reporting.

Why recycle names from GS ??

List of current names (mostly given by BT some turns ago):

                              => settlers (1) : 1 unnamed
                              => workers (4) : "Teh people's", "Peasant Army", "Imhotep's Own", 1 unnamed
                              => workboat (1) : 1 unnamed
                              => scout (1) : "Forester"
                              => cho-ko-nu (4) : "Chuk Norris", "Home Guard", 2 unnamed
=> warrior (2) : "Crimson Guard", "Tribe Elders"
=> axeman (2) : "Blood Axe Clan", "The Lumberers"

Chuck Norris (cho-ko-nu) killed banana warrior
Blood Axe Clan (axeman) captured banana settler

I don't think we need a name for our settler or workboat, but we do need a name for the worker we captured from the bananas and for the 2 unnamed chuks.

                              Chuck Rock
                              Chuck Charlie

don't know about the banana refugees
