  • Short-Term Strategy

In the next 10 turns a bunch of things will happen. Most of them will be known to all other teams. We need to prepare for that, and especially, we need a diplomat to make it smooth.

Alphabeth in 7 turns. Tech trade is possible then, we want at least Masonry and Polytheism asap so we can make a shot at Monotheism and Judaism.

PJay provided a sheme that will complete colossus in 10 turns. At this moment, all teams will know that we have metal casting. Our 3 fellows will also know we 'forgot' to mention this.

In 13 turns our great engineer will be born. If we don't have masonry by then, postpone it. I think the other teams won't give masonry if they know we will complete the Pyramids next turn.

At this moment we have 2 wonders and a serious tech advantage. We are also the only tech brokers in the world (i assume) If we can get sailing from the bananas we need to make boats to see if we can reach the other continent.
We also wanted to snag the great lighthouse.

The next city needs to be a fishing village generating gold for the research output imho

Our two production centers will be churning out axeman, to remove fog and just for the looks on the power charts

I think thats about it. We just need a volunteer for the diplomatic issue.

    nice summary :-)

How many turns do we need to research masonry ourselves ? We have 6 turns between alphabet and the GE. We should make sure we have masonry when the GE is born. If we need 3 turns to research it, we should start to research it ourselves 3 turns before GE is born (unless we know 100% sure we'll get it from someone before the GE is born).

After Alphabet is finished, and if all our current tech trades are agreed upon, I think we should research Chokonus.

Also, BT said he would post a production scheme for Being where collossus is finished after GE. Let's hope he posts it soon.

we should make all effort to NOT research it ourselves.

I think, as planned before, we should finish Colossus either 1 turn after GE is born (if pyramids unavailable) or the turn after that.

As pointed out before GS should be pretty understanding about why we silenced it, Vox wouldn't care much and Bananas are so licking up to everyone, I doubt they'd get very upset with us not mentioning it, especially if we mention we wanted to be sure to be at Colossus first.

We also wanted to snag the great lighthouse.
Yes, will be worthy addition to Colossus.

After Alphabet is finished, and if all our current tech trades are agreed upon, I think we should research Chokonus.
there will be 6 turn gap as mentioned.
If we use GE for Machinery in the end, these will be wasted, so we better get Polytheism and Judaism, so we can get that handy organised religion thing to switch to together with representation.

Also, BT said he would post a production scheme for Being where collossus is finished after GE. Let's hope he posts it soon.
I'll try to get my act together this eve.

Probably. That's why we need to kill the bananas. To liven things up here. Personally I don't really care if we win/lose/... as long as we have fun.

Killing someone is always more fun than making up build queues... (let's hope my employer doesn't read that)

            Working on the queue now.
There are some questions we need to solve, though.

Firstly the possible build items(somewhat prioritised):
            Code:
            item hammers remark
            ---------------------------------------------
            Settler 100 Commerce city
            Lighthouse	60
            The Lighthouse	200
            Settler 100 Commerce city
            Galley 50 x2
            The Library	350 +100% marble
            Scout 15 x2*
            National Epic	250 +100% marble
            Temple 80
            Monastery	60 Research
            Barracks	60
            ---------------------------------------------
            * - scouts to be put on galleys for land exploration where appropriate.

            Anything I missed/put too much?
            Any comments about prioritisation?

            EDIT: costs verified

I'm reading, but all you guys are scary good at this game and I think I'm only really useful here as moral support

You're doing great. Should be more active when we make contact with everyone else and can post in the general forum, and also some teams on the other continent may fail and look for somewhere else to go.

I pay attention, but chipped in my opinions long ago. The game is just a little slow to develop.

I've been pretty busy with work lately.

Also, I suck at diplomatic writing and stuff.

Moving on with the tech plan, first afew facts:

1.we wont be able to build everything that or more at Beijing
2.Tassagrad and after that the third city will soon run out of tasks.

                      My proposal is to relegate:
2 settlers to both of them
2 scouts to Tassagrad (barracks there)
and any missionary production we might have to both of them (after probably making the first missionary at Beijing to spread the faith)

That leaves Beijing with somewhat builderish things to do:
Missionary (if we get religion and it doesn't spread right away)
                      Lighthouse (once we get Sailing)
Great Lighthouse (dependant on the former)
Galley x2 (once we get Sailing)
                      Temple (if we get religion)
                      Monastery (if we get religion)
                      Barracks
Great Library (once we get Literature and marble)
National Epic (once we get Literature and marble)

As you see we have a lot of 'if's/'when's here, in fact we can only be sure that at some point we'll be able to build Barracks, everything else needs to be seen - how soon we can obtain the tech, whether we get a religion and how soon we can hook up our marble.
For that we should check with Bananas what is their ETA on Sailing and with GS - their ETA on Masonry + Polytheism.

I will send (yet) an other message to the bananas, this time PM'ing it to some of their recent turn players too.

If they agree, this is our current tech state:

                          ****From GS****
                          Polytheism
                          Masonry
                          Archery
                          Mathematics

                          ****From Banana****
                          Fishing
                          Sailing
                          Meditation
                          Priesthood

                          ****Possible now****
                          Horseback Riding (10 turns)
                          Drama (14 turns)
Machinery (27 turns or Great Engineer)

                          ****After trades****
                          Literature (Polytheism)
                          Monotheism (Polytheism, Masonry)
                          Code Of Laws (Priesthood)
                          Compass (Sailing)
                          Currency (Mathematics)
                          Construction (Mathematics, Masonry)
                          Calendar (Mathematics, Sailing)

We have 6 turns left between Alphabet and the birth of our engineer. We'd rather not waste turns on Machinery if it turns out we can't use the GE for pyramids. The other two choices take a long time to research and don't give us very much in return. Horseback Riding gives us nothing (we don't have horses). Drama gives us hapiness for culture allocation and artist-specialists.

I really don't know which of the three to choose from. Maybe even do one of the Banana techs if they don't answer us. Or maybe I forgot a possibillity?

I'd say start on Drama, we'll want this tech sooner or later anyway.

By the way, we don't have 6 turns, if GS gives us what they promised
