I think he'd not be allowed to post several AC-GS alignment messages if the team was against it.

What do we trade GS for Monarchy(429) and Construction(500)?
Options:
Currency 572
Metal Casting 643
Literature 286
Sailing 286 (IIRC)
Plus, we have a 150 IOU to them
I don't believe they're very interested in Literature or Sailing, but giving away MC + Currency just for 929beakers and cleared IOU seems a bit too generous, especially considering MC and Currency are both more worth than their counterparts.

You think Construction is more important that Monarchy?
I was actually thinking the other way. Monarchy gives us wines, plus we need it if we get Great Merchant, to pop Civil Service.
Of course we can delay trading them both, but for how long?
Would GS still be willing to trade after some time?
How long it will take to arrange a deal (remember last time) without pushing?

I'd like to trade them Lit + IOU for Monarchy and if necessary we can throw in a promise to trade wine for a period of time.
With our head start on Library we shouldn't have to worry about them beating us to it, epically if we we wait a little bit longer say ~5 more turns.
MetalCasting and cheap forges are still giving us a huge advantage on all our productions both wonder and non wonder and we should keep that as long as possible. Construction is of little value as were not in position to make war on anyone for some time (by which time GS may be going for Feudalism Longbow man defensive strategy blocking any effective attack until Knights).

Ive always done my best diplomacy when i give more than i ask...and encouraged them to go all the way. Just as long as i get what i need.
Monarchy for Literature+wines(25 turn?50?) sounds good. But i would expect them to press for currency or Mcasting. I wouldnt be impressed by an offer of literature myself, since we obviously will be getting the wonder.
Maybe send GS a carefully worded inquiry as to what they and we are intending and see what they have for trade.(cant we open up the diplo screen and see what techs they have? IIRC? i dont have the game here)

They have Construction now and Monarchy in a couple of turns.
We have (what they don't) - Sailing, Literature, MC, Currency.
We should go and offer something and then talk about that offer. If we ask them what do they want we're likely to get the worst deal for us possible (like them immediately claiming they want MC which we obviously don't want to give away).

Ahh, and by the way, it's we who owe them 150 beakers not them, so the Lit + IOU vs Monarchy thing doesn't really work

After some intense discussion in our skype room, it was decided, that we should offer GS:
Literature(143) and Sailing(286) for Monarchy(429)
The totals on both sides are equal and the techs exchanged are quite balanced too, the ones we give open up more possibilities than Monarchy, but they are not so easily exploited.

Greetings our friends at Gathering Storm!
Last time we talked, you told us you'd come back as soon as you have an offer for trade. We understand you must be having your own reasons for delays, like wild animals and naughty voxians killing your envoys, so we have decided to step up with a proposal of our own in hopes it won't get lost on the way, somewhere in the equatorial jungle.
Seeing, how you are about to discover the secrets of Monarchy in not long from now, we would like to propose an exchange, happening once you have it done.
Sailing and Literature for Monarchy sounds the deal, and it's seems fair. The costs of respective technologies match beaker to beaker and the benefits, neither being exceptional, are still good enough.
We, being always thirsty for more happiness, plan to build winery, following this deal, while you could open up trade routes (with Sailing them being beneficial to us both) and build a national wonder or two.
How does it sound for you?
Hoping for smooth negotiation,
Your friends @AC

I'd include the math on tech costs and how this clears the IOU (mostly)
And remind them about trade route exploration, we want to get that going asap. Also a friendly "hows it going with Vox we look forward to reading your glorious war coverage."

On a related note, have you been taking any steps to explore the trade route? We are eager to open commerce between our nations to collectively try and keep ahead of any rivals there might be.
Also, we've heard rumors of GS amassing large armies. That must be for the doom of Vox which now might be as sure and swift as that of Bananas. We're looking forward to time advancing much quicker in the future (turn times).
Hoping for smooth negotiation,

Good phrasing on mentioning their military buildup. I like how it both acknowledges their large military and subtly mentions our superiority in that regard
