  • Oracle of Enlightenment

    <center>The entity called Shen Yi, also known as Apollo, familiar to most entities as Enlightened One settles over a hilly field.

    Let this field be my domain on earthly domain. Let it be the place where prophecies shall be recieved. Let this be place to enlighten the people.

    Let this be my oracle.

    The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore all progress depends on the unreasonable man. --G.B.Shaw

    Let there be communication between our people and nomads that roam this world. Let them know that we are here and what we offer to them. Knowledge of how to join us must be given to them.

    Initial news article

    Goals: *Introduce the team.
    -> What makes our team different from others, what can new members expect, what are our goals.
    -> Explain what is our theme in this game-

    *How to join the team
    -> Requirements for joining.
    -proposal: First condition is that they send the PM to either binTravkin or Googlie. Second is that they explain what SMAC stands for in that PM. This is enough screening for new recruits in my opinion.
    -> Explain how to join.

    Others of our kind, those who have remained on Chiron must know of our efforts. Some of them could join us.

    Inform other SMAC/cIVers

    ->A week long annoucement appearing in the entire SMAC section, linking to information thread for our team.

    Comments, my fellow gods?

      So, some of my input..

      -> What makes our team different from others, what can new members expect, what are our goals.
      What makes us different:

      We are a team of players of another game who have migrated to cIV in order to extend our demogame expierences beyound the borders of a single game.
      Many of us have extensive demogame and forum expierence ranging from lurking around for years to RPing a personality to a level it's impossible to distinguish between the RP character and forum entity.

      We are also very able strategists to name one (we are unable to name more because of security constraints) - Velocyrix is actually a former member of ACers and we have learned a lot from him and keep learning.

      There have been cases when we held a debate hours long about in which of 8 directions to move our first settler, taking into account all available data we had on map at that moment and taking into account all possible strategies feasible to be applied to the situation.

      New members can expect an introduction to classics like Stories About Comrade Claire, Write Your Own F***ing Constitution, The History Of CCCP and more (Illu and others could add here).
      The membership fee also includes a free sightseeing tour ticket to amazing TerraPeso and other most wonderful monuments of our glorious past (again, could use some more placenames).

      Our Goals:
      *censored by Security Department, see order EI-113/U*

      -> Requirements for joining.
      -proposal: First condition is that they send the PM to either binTravkin or Googlie. Second is that they explain what SMAC stands for in that PM. This is enough screening for new recruits in my opinion.
      Telling what SMAC is is too easy IMO.
      How about:
      'What association does word "crawler" give You?'

      A non-Poly SMACer might not have used crawlers, therefore he'd not get application, but it should anyways be harder to join for persons without AC forum history due to security constraints.

      -> Explain how to join.
      I could write an explanation with a descriptive picture later.

      ->A week long annoucement appearing in the entire SMAC section, linking to information thread for our team.
      Would be very nice. Can you do it Illu?

        A possible ending to our team description:

        ..and of course, both The Random Number Disruptor and The Orbital Death Cannon are still in our posession..

          I would mention only The Random Number Disruptor-

            Nice suggestion, but I would move (..) here.
            Didn't really get your point. Elaborate, please.

            Needs more working too.
            Yeah, that was more of a idea/guideline.
            I thought your talent in such things is a bit better than mine, so you could throw something in along those lines.

            Less work for me then.
            Coming in a little time.

            Of course. Just tell me when to do it.
            Once we submit this news article, you should see when you can do it without alleviating your regular schedule.

            I would mention only The Random Number Disruptor-
            Indeed I had doubts on the other one too.
            I will add a little description in 'what the heck that is' style when Im done with the explanation thingy.

            Can we expect you to put this together in a stylish (like you arranged the Believers' promotional article and many others) form then?

                I am not sure if it is possible - haven't tried those html codes in the news articles yet.

                    Woah, that sounds like playing GOTM for civ3. People made proofs to show that golden specks on the edge of the line of sight of the settler was infact a gold resource Who is really that obsessed anyway

                      Kata, have you got problems distinguishing propaganda from truth?

                      The picture is very good, we'll just need to make it smaller.
                      It could be our titular picture, what do you think Illu?

                        Not a bad idea, but what would it signal to other teams? I'll see if I can come up with something better,
