    Fellow comrades.

We should establish some kind of policy towards people who ask to join us now, after our private forum has been established (Im not referring to those who already signed up in the initial list).

Right now there's a guy called FlyBoy21a who'd like to join us, but in my natural suspiciousness I am reluctant to let him in.

Here's Solver's response on my request for DL check:
He doesn't have any of the DL signs. He has slight similarities to two other users, but those are both Settlers who have never posted, and they date back to 2002 and 2003. So I don't think FlyBoy is a DL.

This is the ACer Team so lets make shure they are ACers and not a DL as Solver showed.

The only problem in the future could be to much talking before action so strict SOP will have to be made.

SOP? You mean 'piss off' or something?

Maybe setup some "immigration test" : a series of simple Alpha Centauri questions (about crawlers, choppers <=> jets, ...). Especially about those things that are useless to know in civ4 (just kidding)

I would accept almost anybody (except those with E_N - behaviour).

He has the diplogames icons, so I guess he's used to roleplaying and civ4 strategy. Maybe ask him what he has done in that regard or if he's just using the icons without being involved.

He had 5 posts and 4 civgroup icons when I last checked.
          Do you think that's serious?

Seriously, I suggest as PJ did, the AC test:

In 150 words or less, state why a no roads strategy is clearly superior to a roaded strategy for the first 100 years of the game. Find at least one thread in the AC forum backing up your claim.

I would fail that test, Chaunk. Are you saying I'm no AC'r?

In any case, 6 posts in what? 3 years? is quite low to show a real interest in participating. Especially if as you say he had icons for other groups earlier on. It showed he didn't participated in those then.
(but I can't see civicons on his nick anymore, except ours)

My suspicions match those of bT in this case. He only joined the diplogroup a few days ago. Also, the pic in his profile matches the one of Capo's avatar, another member (and organizer) of the diplogame team, too much for my liking.

I suddenly have a feeling I wasn't very good at SMAC..

Do you mean tearing up the roads you build for colony pods after you use them to found bases faster?

Also, as a complete newbie I don't think it would be fair for me to say no to others. But then again I wouldn't know how to recognise a DL. So I heroicly abstain.

I was thinking especially of this thread to be fair. I think most, if not all, of the people who were around at the time will remember it fondly

so, any official stance about this?

I guess we turn this one down then and hope there's not much more of those sudden comers..

                          What is Capo btw?

OK, let's just tell him we are currently allowing "known AC-ers" only, but we're working on an official immigration examn. Once that's finished (tell him: we don't know when that's gonna be, but we're working on it), he can take the test and if he passes he's allowed in

He'll probably just join an other team... But I think all players who have (almost) never played any civ-game, but have been playing AC a lot, should find a welcome home here. Even if they've only played single player and never been to the forums.
