Depending on exactly when this turn comes in, I may be able to play it, if you like.

The only day that is questionable is Saturday - I'm going to "winefest" from noon to 5 and something tells me that I may be a tad unreliable for some time after that

The trick isn't to break some eggs to make an omelette, it's convincing the eggs to break themselves in order to aspire to omelettehood.

You should toast Winestrom sometime that afternoon!

Unfortunately I won't be able to play any saves until late March; I left my Civ4 CD at home, so unless someone points me towards a noCD crack I can't start the game...

            Received from Donegal
            Grog LIVES!!!!
            Well, damn.

We decided to attack your pest Grog but he survived. I don't have a battle report as I'm not sure how to make one from the game, but it really isn't needed. Grog defended well. Perhaps to well. He was unharmed. Subsequently, we did not attack with any other units.

Also, just for your info, this might very well be my last turn to play as the Voice, as I fully expect my wife to have our second little girl anyday now (I almost took her to the hospital today). Jon will be taking over when I am done.

I sent him thanks for the news and good luck wih the kids.

For proper effect the use of Immortals is recommended.

I neglected to tell you that it was our Warrior that attacked, but I guess that you realized that. Sorry.

Wow. Grog survived. Hrm, that breaks the pattern (Grog died in my other game - E_T's evil warriors did him in).

What promotion do we want to give him? Woodsman I or Combat I ?

I see that 'nana is on the clock. HM, do you want me to play this turn?

Good question - that's up for discussion I guess. Since he is unharmed I don't see a need to use the promotion right away.

                        Wines / FP2:
These cities are identical and will use largely identical builds. Both cities will have a single farmed floodplain improved in advance. They will work 3 additional floodplains, which will be cottaged ASAP.
Blake - is it okay to finish the road after the Farm?

Next, should Worker II go pre-build the farm for FP2 by moving 7-7 (presumably after finishing the road), or should he build a cottage for Winestrom?

                        Numbers of relevance:
                        - EotS finishes next (FP2?) settler in 3 turns
                        - Winestrom grows in 2 turns
                        - FP2 could be settled in 5 turns

If Vox still has an archer next to him, I think we should use the promo right away. If they've backed off, we can save it. Thus, we need to answer the question in case it's applicable.

If I expected the unit to live long and prosper, I'd advocate combat I. His purpose, however, is basically limited to holding that one forest tile until we get around to smushing Vox. So woodyI

                          ...

Ok, I will check in throughout the day to see if the save comes in. I will also get online from home tonight at least once (probably between 7 and 8 pm eastern).

Hmm, someone correct me if I'm wrong, but...

                            Combat 1) 2*(1+.1+.25+.5)=3.7

Hell, that'd kill a few archers...

                            Woodsman1) 2*(1+.2+.25+.5)=3.9

Well, both are higher than a combat 2 archer, but woodsman 2 would only just have below 50% odds against a single melle archer.

Combat 1 is probably best for long term use though...

The messages indicate they decided not to continue the attack, so I don't anticipate an immediate attack again next turn, though there may well still be an adjacent unit. It's once there's a second unit threatening again that we'd have to worry, and I don't see that happening soon. That warrior returned from exploration, and I think we know of all the other Vox units. When they finally manage to build something out of our choke, we'll know.
