In order to make nye's life easier, I think it's a good idea to combine all our votes for the game settings within one thread. If I'm actually complicating things, feel free to delete this.

Everyone needs to vote on the following settings:

    1. Game Speed: Quick, Normal, Epic, Marathon
    2. Starting Era: Ancient, Classical...Modern

    3. Barbarians: None, Normal, Ragin
    4. Difficulty Level: <=Warlord, Noble, Prince, >=Monarch
    5. Alliances: On, No Permanent Alliances, Always War
    6. Tech Trading: Yes, No
    7. City Razing: On, Off
    8. City Flipping: Normal, Only After Conquest, Off

    9. Choosing Civs: Random, Random With Veto, Preferences

    10. Map Type: Terra, Pangea, Continents, Archipelago, Lakes
    11. Map Design: Handmade, Customized, Previewed
    12. Resource Balance: Scarce All, Scarce Lux/Food, Normal, Plentiful Lux/Food, Plentiful All
    13. Map Size: Tiny, Small, Normal, Large, Huge
And her eyes have all the seeming of a demon's that is dreaming...

First things first, I am PO at the fact that some of the votes will be added in case of the tie, for example if there is a tie on which game speed between quick and epic, and one team votes marathon and 2 normal, epic wins.

Utter bollocks for the obvious reason.
You just wasted six ... no, seven ... seconds of your life reading this sentence.

Yeah, but let's just make it clear what our team wants internally, we need to know that anyway to vote.

Dom, I took "Alliances" to mean Permenant Alliances a la NGoW'D, and not "Military Alliances" like in Civ3. Is that the meaning, or does the Alliance choice mean somethign different...?

              -----------

Alliances: GoWND should be possible, but enforced: the moment it is internally decided it should be published in the game.

I think it strictly refers to what comes with Police State. I actually have never used the option in the setup screen, so I'm not sure.

What I really want to know is if we're going to allow allied victories (maybe through a Permanent Alliance - but when would they have to sign it?).

BTW, what does City razing option mean? On = you can raze cities, Off = you must keep any cities you capture?

So if it was off, and we captured a town someone had shoved on our border, we would be stuck with the crappy town?

The trick isn't to break some eggs to make an omelette, it's convincing the eggs to break themselves in order to aspire to omelettehood.

                        Yes.

I voted yea to this option because I think it adds a strategic dimension to the game that would be a refreshing change from the scorched earth landscape of Civ3 PBEM and demogames.

                          Where is the choice though?

Scorched earth only applies if you are on the defensive, and you can't abandon cities you have already placed. The only way to wipe cities off the map is when you capture them, and that option is being removed? We're losing choices if City razing is off...

Sorry, I meant scorched earth as an offensive policy (burn and rebuild).
