I said it was good but its "corporate sausage".

I can buy it in Indiana for petes sake

If you want truely great sausage go to a specialty shop, and trust me once you have eaten Lodi Sausage, you will get off your high horse with Usinger

I would like to submit the above as evidence of how role play and OOC can easily be confused and possibly cause hurt feelings. I chose to pretend to be offended over sausages to illustrate my point. I could never be offended by such trivial things, especially when I pity Con so much for simply living in the accursed Indiana where he must turn road kill into sausage.

And I want to use this as a point as well.

If you are going to hit someone with a sausage at least have the decentcy to smack them with a good sausage not some mass produced second rate sausage.

Translation, if you are going to do something, do it with style and grace.

Or esle someone is going to take offense to it

          Correct.

          Thank you for playing along.

BTW - Let me retract my comments concerning Indiana. I have no problems with that fine state except for the man they call Tony George. But that is for a different forum.

                  Its not really "my state".

I live here because I work here.

I am truely more of Yooperland native myself, having been adopted by a family there.

Excuse my ignorance - I enjoy watching US racing but know little of the politics. What did he do that makes people hate him? Is he held responsible for the series split?

Here was my post regarding roleplay, and the dynamics of demo games generally, in the current C3C demo game forum. It expresses my views fairly well. I like the game to have character, and roleplay is fine by me. I like some of the ideas above regarding how to differentiate, but I would also hate for us to get so pedantic about it. The first ptwdg struck me as a good balance, where folks understood the'grey areas' I mention below. It had its moments, but seem to work for most involved.

Anyways, my post (if anyone will read it after con's and Daddy-O's spam fest. )

However, the line between roleplay and non-roleplay has been blurred by many, not just the Horde. This also results in personal relations which existed between folks prior to this game getting seriously frayed when those relations are relied on for diplomacy in this game. It comes down to a matter of the two individuals involved seeing the dialogue differently - person #1 is thinking how can I, as a member of team ABC, get person #2, of XYZ to buy into this deal, knowing that it is strictly game-related diplomacy. Person #2 is thinking, hey , this is my good pal #1, I know I can trust him. Hence - hard feelings when things go sideways later.

A number of us learned this in past games (Beta holds his hand high here) and that there is never a perfect delineation of roleplay and non-roleplay in demo games. I think the Horde team has many new members to demo games, so this may not be readily apparent to you, although this game has been a pretty severe proving ground for all involved. I guess what I am trying to say is - yes, it is just a game, and no, it is much more than that - both at the same time. It is a game that by definition, involves personal relations, and emotions, and feelings. We all need to be aware of that, and be aware of crossing a line which is admittedly very grey.
Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war .... aw, forget that nonsense. Beer, please.

I think rolep[lay is feasible. maybe firaxis or apolyton should start up a secure RP server you have to apply to join or maybe more than that. works i nthe past with other games. if someone doesnt rp then just ban them from that server after a number of warnings. whadaya think?

The return of the RP Team? Where the heck is Togas when you need him?

I guess this would be my team, heh.

I'd honestly suggest using rules like we had for the old RP Team, perhaps with a bit of modification. I'll have to go dig those up.

Ok, someone give me the rundown of what the heck went wrong with RP in the C3C game?

The last time I was on a *REAL* RP team (can called just that) was the original PTWDG here at 'poly. I don't think any of our RP upset anyone at all... it was all pretty darn harmless. There were some other teams in that game who decided to do RP-like stuff that DID piss a few people off (namely hit piece propaganda designed to demonize the opponent).

It all has to do with how you do it. Our "propaganda", such that it was, was rather tongue-in-cheek and I think clearly recognized as such. When people on other teams tried doing propaganda to truly demonize people, though, it did piss a lot of people off. It would be nice if we just made sure that any "propaganda" RP was with one's tongue firmly in cheek enough that you don't have to cause a flame war with it.

Anyhow, what the heck happened in this C3C game you guys are referring to?
