RESOLUTION: Declaration of war against India

Citizens of Concordia!

You have spoken and we have listened.

We the government plan to liberate the holy cities of India, to the rightful ways of Concordia.

This effort will require a concerted effort, effort that will be wasted without your approval.

We, the government seek your approval to declare war on India, once MoD General Paddy the Scot has determined our troops ready.

This resolution also recognises the strategic use of cease fires and cessation of hostilities (peace agreements) as a time honoured tool of war to further the aims of Concordia, and that these do not, in any way, disallow further resumption of hostilities against the nation of India.

People of Concordia - allow this government to do your bidding and vote yes!

16 votes already. Even the presidential election didn't get that many and it had 5 days to gather those votes.

Does anybody else find this a little dubious?

For the record, I voted against simply because the vote suggests a much more open-ended licence to the government than the plan “liberation of the holy city” first implies. Particularly the phrase “…time-honoured tool of war to further the aims of Concordia” can be interpreted in far too many ways.

In addition, “when our troops are ready” is unclear in its time-scale. We have no idea whether this war will be next turn, in 10 turns or in 50 turns.

Picking points maybe but it is for the government to make a lot more of this clear to the citizens and the ambiguity makes the proposal far less palatable that it is in reality.

Some people know the art of rallying the Citizens to a cause. Have you ever done this? Or do you just prefer to act like a petty union official and complain when a vote is not to your liking?

I remember the war on Mongolia, it had an open ended Resolution, and passed quite well. From a long term point of view, if you want the Holy City, you better be prepared to take the land around it, otherwise you may just have a small toe hold on a larger landmass.

Would you just commit to a date now, and then be stuck to it. It was my understanding that you were a competent Military Strategist, not a rash overbearing soul that has to have his own way. If the Military was to set a date now and then just go on that date, they would then suffer from any changes the enemy made between now and then.
