Forget the $50 second copy! Buy a $100-150 external CD drive instead. How else would you expect to play civ on that laptop?
I don't think it is "right" to use those "unmentionables" to play games without the required CD. (too many rum-&-coffees in my system)

i've got such a drive (two in fact), but external CD drives use too much power to be powered by USB drives, so you can only use them where you have a power source.
when i drive 3 hours on the train, i quite like to get some turns played, so some unmentionable things may have to be used. i mean, after all i bought the game for the game itself, not for the reflecting disk that spins in a drive.
it's like if you buy a CD and rip it to your mp3 player. that's not illegal, because you BOUGHT the music and just are looking for a more convenient way to play it.
however, i clearly speak against all "N-word"-versions of a game for people who did not acquire the game. i also would not share the CD-image with anybody... but the game industry must come up with a solution for mobile users, like the music industry is (very very slowly) starting to understand that it's necessary.- Artificial Intelligence usually beats real stupidity

PreOrdered last weekend. usually I don't, but I'm one of the few(?) weirdos that actually read and use manuals, so the spiralbound one sounded attrictive (as the other goodies did).
And... well, couldn't resist anylonger after seeing al the great screenshots. Can't remember having been so excited about the release of a game (well, maybe civ 3... but I think it's even worse now... sigh... hope it meets my expectations).-------------------------------><------------------------------
