Archipeligo or Planet Generator

UnO, did you use the in game map generator? Or planet generator to make that one in the top left?

As long as we all have decent starting locations and aren't completely isolated (11 players on 11 islands = a bit boring), I'm fine with whatever. I'm more interested in actually playing than discussing endlessly about the map.

I dislike the idea that we'd have one "all connected" landmass. But, that's just me personally.

I would like a few of those types of land masses (3-5 civs each) with a small water way, reachable by Galley, seperating them all.

Don't know if the planet generator is capable of such a map however. I imagine with some tweeking it should be able to.

That would be closest to the spirit of "archapelago/snakey contenants".

In the temporary absence of Team Leader Nugog, Southern Cross has decided to vote for Planet Generator.

Top left image was what we wanted (and thought had been voted for), Split into two or three landmasses, all contactable by galleys, would be perfection!!

Right, with the settings listed above them. The only thing we would want to change is the 'number of continents' from 1 to a random number, and if that flings them too far apart, you can set continent distribution to "around center" to force all continents within galley distance.

Didn't have time to fiddle with Planet Generator last night as I came home to plumbing issues in the house...

well with 6 people voting for archipelago it looks like that is a majority.

We have a good 6 hours before I can start the game anyway, now is the time to speak up, because it looks like an archipelago from the in game generator. I can look it over for bad starts if you guys want.

And I assume the archipleago means one land mass. If not then please at least get us contact via everyone via galley.

These games take long enough as it is. Not making contact just drags everything out. And with the next expansion around 2 months away, I am concerned as it is for the long term viability of this game.

Let me be clear on my feelings.

I would rather you take an extra 24 to 48 hours to check out the map to make sure the above is satisfied.

In the grand scheme of things starting tonight or starting thursday really won't make that much of a difference.

The Goonies vote for Planet Generator upper left settings (what we always thought was happening to begin with) and a random number of continents all contactable by galleys. (roll a die if random is not an option)
