I was not allowed to see the private forum without authorisation, but I could shortcut that by going directly to the threads in those private forums. One way to do that was by clicking on the 'new posts' option near the top of the page next to 'control panel'. I use this option all the time, as it gives me a list of threads that have had new posts in them since I was last logged on to Poly.

I was surprised when I could see posts appearing in that list that were in the private forums, and these links let me straight into those threads. Once in the thread I could do whatever I could normally in a public forum thread.

Loc has found a way to fix it, but I'm puzzled and intrigued by the need to fix it for 70 people. Loc - are those people participants of this game, in which case what happens when somebody new comes along? Or, are those people minimods around the place, and we all need to have a special deactivation of our ability to access the private forum threads?

No, it affects 70 more or less random people (though it does seem to favour people with unusual status (staff, minimods) or access rights (i.e. who can access other private forums)).

No idea why this happened but you can rest assured I'll be looking into this, making sure this can't happen again in the future...

And provii - that's not right at all. It's only now that I'm back and with my help can Poly admins identify and root out these ongoing bugs! Just call me the troubleshooter. I find what the trouble is, and you go and shoot me for it.

I for one thank Mr WIA, if he had not found this loophole and so publically announced it then private forum security could have been a serious problem once the game had started.......
