In a way though i'm thinking we better allow doubles/triples. Otherwise, people are just going to blame a loss on the fact that someone had a better civ.

I guess I don't understand the need to legislate a bunch of: "you can't do this and you can't do that" in a game.

One group may pick the Chinese because they want to do a pirate theme (and there was and there are a LOT of good Chinese Pirates), and another team may pick the same CIV because they want some sort of Mao "power to the people theme".

Remember... just my opinion. I was under the impression that was what posting to forums was for.

Unfortunate that some people need to get personal just because they don't agree. Don't attack the person, attack the idea.

I think simply going along with "the way it has always been done" is being more in a box then suggesting change.

For what it's worth, I voted for random. I like the idea of having teams needing to adjust to the hand they are dealt and making the most of it. It also ensures we have a wide variety of nations to deal with.

Granted, from a roleplaying aspect it might not fit the theme a team had in mind. Of course that begs the question of how many teams are actually thinking of doing that?

Random would probably not sit well with the Southern Way and what we have planned for Southern Cross.

Normally I like as much randomization as possible, but in a DG, especially when theming, I think it's a big no no
