  • Determining Civs???

The question is - how do we determine civs/leaders for each team.

    Here are some approaches:

    1. First come-first served. This will encourage sign-up. I am keeping track of teams as they come forward.

    2. Random draw for 1st through X choice of civs. Teams randomly get a draft choice, and pick in order.

    3. Random assignment of civs by the game.

    4. Random assignment of a pre-determined subset of civs. This would be along the lines of an 'Europe in Flames' or 'Asian Tigers' game, where say, 8 European civs are assigned at random to the teams. Or if we have say, 16 teams, we may have 8 European civs on one continent and 8 Asian civs on another. Something along those lines.

    5. Other ideas??? Make a suggestion.

I will vote random for almost every game aspect, map specially. civ4 is the most balanced game, touching something makes game worse.

You could just allow duplicates and let each team choose...
You just wasted six ... no, seven ... seconds of your life reading this sentence.

Random - looks like I'm in with the majority. It almost hurt to say that.
I do not live in London, I live in South London. South London is different, a warm melting pot where everyone can become a bona fide South Londoner by virtue of two things. One: living in South London, and two: having no aspiration to live in the Cotswolds.

              Whats all this random BS?

Let teams choose CIV's and alternates in the case of a tie. Some teams may want to pick a particular CIV because of the themem or roleplay aspect, isn't that a big part of what makes these kind of games fun???

Too bad there isn't a Spanish civ. That probably would have been the best choice for the Pirate Team.

I really can think a better team to use the Spanish civ.

He He, it felt really good to see you say that

If someone has a theme they should pretty much know who they want to be.

So if we are worried about delays in making choices, I don't think those folks will be a problem. And in either case set a deadline, if the dealine aint met they aren't in OR just assign a random CIV.

Yep - I am convinced. I am changing my vote. Minus 1 on the random, and +1 to the draft choice/or determining some order to pick civs. To be honest - first come-first served would work well.

Random civs is OK but having the ability to choose our own civ would be even better. As a matter of fact that could be a first poll for vote for the teams forming
