What do we think about someone sending an "unofficial" email to Banana just laying it on the line straight up about what he needs to do. That way we're protected (mostly) from the backlash of him cooling relations if it was sent as an official capacity, but we still get the memo across

I nominate Sooooo. He will make references to good movies to get his point across.

His situation is doubly hopeless: as you can see from the log, PAL has a GA at hand, so even if Banana were to raze Pi-Ram it could simply be resettled and culture-bombed

I am pretty sure PAL saves this GA for their planned Golden Age. After al they lost Taj to some other team, and have yet to get something out of the Mausoleum.

I agree regarding the horses. What a waste.

As an MP team, PAL knows the value of a culture bomb, so I don't think they'll start a golden age any time soon with that artist.

Sure, they will need a 2nd Great Person first anyway. That's why the GA is still around.

Anyway, the state of Banana's military is hilarious. I don't think PAL is losing any sleep over what they can see from Banana's preparations.

Yes, but bear in mind that sunrise was posting his pre-chat opinions: he was/is very upset that Imperio is trading military techs to PAL. He thought that canceling resources would 'wake up' Imperio. As you can see from the log, we tried to talk him round to securing MT ASAP.

Swiss is right, though I don't think we persuaded Donovan on much. If however he did just need time to "sleep on things" than things may be better than they appear. Considering how bad they appear though, that won't be hard

Well, he certainly took some of our advice on-board: a whipping & drafting frenzy has boosted his military considerably. He got an Artist rather than a Scientist, so I've looked at Operation: Bananabomb. It's a two-phase, one turn gambit to try to wrest cultural control of the borders to his core from PAL (or neutrality which is just as bad seeing as he's defending).

It should be clear enough from the screenshots, I hope:

                      Spoiler:

                      Spoiler:

He'd need to move most of his army into the new city. He should also chop those forests, and road the FP & cow tiles for defensive purposes.

Tactically, he needs to give up on Omni-Point and probably Foster (see screenshots in OP) as well: they're relatively new, and too far from his core to be worth saving

PAL could (will?) bomb Elephantine in a tit-for-tat move (but they can't settle a new city and bomb it as there are no legal sites if Banana settles the gems). This would claim back quite a few tiles, I believe.

Banana's alternative to this is a Golden Age, which won't benefit him too much with all the whipping & drafting. A GA would also mean him not bulbing PP and giving it to us, so I think this is better move for our alliance. What do you guys think?

Best for us is to bulb PP and bomb a city. Best for banana = golden age.

Culture bombs are almost worthless at moving long-standing cultural borders. I'd strongly advise against wasting the Great Artist in that fashion; PAL already has thousands of culture accumulated on those tiles. A bomb will get one row of tiles at most. Banana's just wasting a Great Person if Donovan uses it in that fashion.

I very strongly recommend using the Great Artist on a Golden Age. Unfortunately, Donovan needs a second Great Person to pop one, because he stupidly burned his last Great Scientist on a GA. (And yes, we told him that was a bad idea at the time!) In any case, someone should definitely pass on word that a culture bomb will do virtually nothing to help him out along that border.

How are you calculating that PAL has 1000s of culture on those tiles? Pi Ram didn't get Confu until recently, and is only up to 40% culture, and has lost a tile to Banana's third ring already.

Here's an idea out of left field from a newly-joined lurker:

How about leaking (false) intentions to attack PAL as soon as Astro is available (e.g. by sounding Rabbits out about an alliance of some sort). Would this cause enough confusion to make PAL commit fewer resources to their war against Banana than they should?

Maybe, and more resource devoted to attacking our coastal cities. For me personally, I'd rather let Banana take the brunt of their attack.
