  • Hello RB, First of all apologies for another miscommunication. At the moment Naldorinho has controlled the game by himself and he can’t do everything (?). : ( I want to congratulate you with the capture of Jerusalem, you are perfect “lean mean fighting machines” : p. I understand that you will help us with the war against Templars, correct? Good, then we will attack exactly on turn 164, it would be interesting if on the following turn (163) you would have a military advance to distract them even without risking your troops.
About the closing of borders, that seems complicated to me. At the moment we want to seem neutral to PAL and to try to convince them that we are not a danger, if we closed borders with PAL they would start to distrust us.
Thank you very much for everything!

    A greeting
    Naldorinho

P.S I think MoC is a credit to your team and the human race

    • @MyOtherCar: Thanks! How come the dutch can speak every language there is?

      • That's easy: because no-one else can be bothered learning Dutch!

        • A combination of euroglot, internet, learning latin at school and living in a small country in a world that doesn't speak your language (except for 'Apartheid').

          • No direct request to hand over Jerusalem. That's odd.

            • Well, he seems a bit uncertain about our deal with them in general: "I understand that you will help us with the war against Templars" is another example of that.

              • Well this couldn't be better. They don't ask for us to gift them Jerusalem, and even ask for us to advance on Templars to provide a military distraction! ("una avanzada militar para distraerlo aunqe sin arriesgar vuestras tropas") All we have to do is send back a message agreeing with their suggestion, and we have a legitimate reason to park our army outside Constantinople. We can even nudge them in that direction ("our distraction force is moving towards Constantinople....")

I'm going to feel rather bad about betraying them as well, because I do feel that their current alliance with us is genuine. However, they still refuse to close borders with PAL, they swindled us on the Gunpowder trade, and they opportunistically declared war on us when we were most vulnerable. Imperio doesn't want to fight us now because we got stronger than them. So we shouldn't feel too bad.

                • I am not feeling bad at all.
I am still upset about their sabotage acts at Cape Town.

And after all, backstabbing is a common enough occurrence in games like this.
I hope nobody will carry their in-game grudge outside. That would heavily screw up the polite atmosphere in the RB forums after the ongoing RB Pitboss game otherwise.

Although, sooooooo beating me to the HG. Grrrrrrrrrr.

                    • I agree this is a great email. I also agree with MyOtherCar that this turnplayer may not even know that we ever agreed to hand over Jerusalem in the first place(!).

I think a suitable reply would be something like:

"Thank you for the email. We understand about PAL, maybe you will be able to close borders in the future. We will use our troops to distract Templars on T163 like you ask. What city are you planning to attack?

                      -RB"

Well, I naldo should know what he's the deal is...maybe he realised that us handing over Jerusalem as soon we captured it wouldn't work.

Let's tell him we're marching up to Constantinople's gates now so that Templars are distracted, but we can't stay there for very many turn because troop maintenance costs are too high, so he should attack Constantinople before Damascus and Acre.

                        • I like Sunrise's message - keep it unclear exactly what our distraction is.

                          • If I were Imperio and I was told that my war ally was parking units outside Constantinople as a 'distraction', I would be beeling for what I assume would be a more lightly defended Damascus.

                              Exactly.

Sunrize's message is nicely general, and attacking Constantinopole sertainly qualifies as "a distraction".

And I would feel bad about Operation Backstub if they hadn't violated at least one of the clauses of our agreement already and the agreement hadn't been so much in their favor. A minor breach of a fair agreement is one thing, but if you negotiate a hugely favorable deal with somebody who has world's largest army, you better make sure to follow all the terms to the letter.
