  • Big news! Imperio has started a golden age and revolted to Islam, bureaucracy and organised religion. I presume that they used the great prophet that they got 8 turns ago to set it off.

In an unprecedented move, they also hit End Turn. In case lightning strikes twice and templars do the same, I went ahead and whipped Pink Dot. Please no one change the tiles here - it is not working the dyes for 2 turns in order to be able to complete a 50-hammer build straight after the whipped catapult.

    • If Templars are committing their stack to attacking Pink, we will not have to keep many troops there once that stack is gone, so I'd prefer to attack Jerusalem instead of razing Constantinopol.

I few hours. Also, I still strongly prefer burning the city if we have the chance, but obviously I'll report back once we investigate the defenses.

Of course, if someone else wants to investigate the city, go ahead. Please use the weakest unit and make sure not to move onto the oasis tile.

Also, considering what happened before, I really hope Krill is watching the Templar forum - for all we know they'll move units into Constantinople this turn as soon as they log in.

          • Ok. I'm going to log in to investigate the city. Will post a screenshot ASAP.

Ah well, no lightning raid for us.

              • Wow, that's a nice defence force. I suppose most of those longbows were moved there last turn from Jerusalem, since otherwise they would have reinforced Jericho.

EDIT: removed some silly tactical ideas.

                • So how much of the Templars soldier count is accounted for in that pic?

                  • I wonder if any of those units were supplied by Imperio?

                    • So what's the plan? Retreat our stack back into Jericho I suppose to heal. I don't think we can leave a unit there to cover Charismatic since there is not a unit that can defend against the crossbow. We may have to sacrifice her by leaving her on the tile 1SW of Jericho and if a unit kills her, we can attack it back with a 2-mover and get back into the city. We can't leave the whole stack on that tile because we need our mounted units to cover Pink and Cape Town and also they will probably catapult it.

                      • To answer my question, the Constantinople garrison is 41K soldier points, which means they have (I think?) about 56K soldier points for the rest of their civ, not counting the other ones we can see.

I think we might risk leaving a mace and a healthy HA there along with Chari in the hope of luring some Templar units out to attack. If we did that, they might waste their cat, then fight fairly narrow battles with a Mace then a CB. We could then mop them up the next turn, and move to attack Constantinople.

                          • I am not too impressed by the Const garrison. Their top defender, a longbow, has only 5% fortify bonus. So all longbows were moved their last turn.

I am also surprised (well, not really, this is Templars after all) how bad the surrounding lands are improved. Mines anyone?
And this is their 2nd city, what happened to the infrastructure?

I would like to save Charismatic. We could leave the mace SW of Jericho to cover its retreat.

I want to hear sunrises assessment of the Templars stack in our lands first, but I think we might actually pull together an army (with cats and the medic) to make a push for Const. (see PD theatre thread for some more ideas.)

                            • If I were playing alone:

                              1) I'd move our units back into Jericho. Chasmatic is a sad casaulty of war...I wouldn't try to cover her unless we have a knight healthier than I think we do in Jericho.

                              2) I want to react more strongly in the Pink Dot area than the rest of the team. In my opinion that stack ties down a lot of our units if it gets in defensive terrain. If we kill that stack we can move all of our Pink Dot area units up towards Jericho.

                              3) In the short term I'd heal our Jericho stack and position it to cover Cape Town. As others have said, now is the time for Imperio to move in and I'd like to have as much strength available to counter that as possible.

                              • Can't Charismatic move back 1NW? Or is the thought that Templars will still attack even if she does? Wouldn't that mean we could kill that unit next turn?
