  • Cape Town Theatre Command

I nominate sunrise to assume command over all military units in this theatre, once the dirt hits the fan. (Hoping he will agree).
The idea is to have someone in charge who has extensive knowledge in MP warfare and can make snap decisions based on lucky/unlucky dice rolls.

Here a local map with coordinates:

As of the start of T129, Imperios main army sits on C9 unmoved. They can move their main army to B7 this turn.

Assuming C6 flips to us next turn, Imperio has to declare war on us next turn (T130).

    Suggested moves:
Camilla (HA) to step-in step-out on I4 (cows tile) to check for hidden Templar stack. Camilla will have plenty of time to go back to Cape Town on T130.

Great ideal - but the screenshots should really be in black and white if we are going for that WWII movie feel.

How about we lay down some signs in-game with those coordinates on them - don't need every tile, maybe every 2nd or 3rd would do.

I second the nomination of sunrise.

Also, is there anything that the rest of us should know about going into the save w/o screwing anything up? Are we safe if we just open it and don't move anything?

I'm just paranoid about looking at something and somehow screwing everything our move advantage up or the turn order or something

        Way ahead of you.
I put down the local coordinates with signs.

Other people probably have better screenshot/globe view skills to get a better map.

No that's fine. Anyone can log in whenever they want, even if we've ended the turn.

As to turnplayers, we'll have to see how the turn order timing goes, and how it fits with peoples schedules. In Europe, Sullla and sooooo have played enough MP/war games to handle the combat without worries. In North America, there's sunrise, obviously, but do we have any other volunteers?

We need to see how the flow of the war goes. My concern is that both teams will make their moves during the first 24 hours of a turn, so then they will both try for initiative at the start of the next turn. I'm reasonably competent that I can out quick-move Imperio if it comes down to needing to be logged in when the timer switches over, having pop-ups minimized, having the units we need to move selected, zoomed in, and mashing the appropriate arrow key as the turn ticks over.

If on the other hand things neatly divide themselves into a RB 24 hours and an Imperio/Templar 24 hours then I'm sure any of us are more than proficient enough to handle the moves.

I would suggest we let the timer end in order to be predictable anytime we're not guaranteed a decent amount of move-first hours.

Did you forget having the unit groups keyed to hot keys? Does that really work - I tried it once but Civ4 kept forgetting those linkages.

In really tense situation there are no time for separate hotkey groups. Normally it's hold CTRL-A has the turn timer ticks over and then spam the numpad with your stack against the enemy one

                    "C6!" "You sunk my battleship!"

For turn playing, I'm not a great candidate. I'm away for Easter weekend starting this Thursday morning. And I haven't played any MP wars (though plenty against AIs). I could be emergency backup Wednesday evening (about 7 PM onwards US Eastern), but sounds like that will probably be covered.

I can arrange my schedule to handle turns at just about any Euro-friendly time... after I get back from France on this Friday evening. Hopefully we won't need to be particularly timer-sensitive after the first turn of the war, however. It sounds like the PAL/Rabbits war has a clear 24 hour agreement on who moves when, and we can probably expect the same to happen here.

Is General Sunrise (or Captain Sullla) doing the moves in a little under 2 hrs from now - we need to maintain our first move initiative.

Yes - do we feel it's imperative to end our turn first? I will assume the answer is "yes" unless I hear otherwise.

Yes - as far as I know our plan was to log in first (as soon as the turn rolls over as we can) and move all our units (including workers) and end turn.

I believe we should try and maintain initiate Sullla, yes.
