  • State of the Game

    Given the recent problems over on the Eastern Isle, I plan to post something in the main forum about the future of this demogame.

    The two main points I would put forward are:

    1. Each time confirms number of available turnplayers, and number of team members regularly involved in discussions, so we can get an idea of how likely each time to see the game through.

    2. Suggestions for sorting out the Eastern Isle: based on tonyciv4's post, PAL have lately dwindled (literally) to a 1 man show, same for Banana and Rabbits have played so badly as to be soon dead unless they get a massive shot in the arm.

    My suggestion would be to look for new players for PAL, and to merge Rabbits & Banana, and have a forced peace for 50 turns to give RabNana a chance to mount a credible challenge to PAL.

    I'd need to add some stuff about that island being designed for 4 civs, etc, etc, but do we think it's worth trying to salvage the game at this stage?

    This could be avoided if we find a replacement for PAL, which should be easier, as they are more attractive than Banana.

      I personally have put a great deal of time and effort into this Demogame. Winning or losing wouldn't bother me. The game collapsing because none of the other teams feel like playing would have me pretty ticked off, to say the least.

      Not to keep beating a dead horse here, but the exceedingly poor organization and administration of this Demogame are directly responsible for this mess. No one is in charge - our own team members are trying to mediate the PAL/Rabbits dispute! What a disaster. I'm especially angry that RobWorham came to our forums at Realms Beyond , asked us to join the Demogame, then did a terrible job getting things started and promptly disappeared, leaving this mess behind. Yeesh.

      Please do everything possible to keep the game going. If not, I'll be posting some really scathing stuff in the General Forum when the game closes.

            Although this is somewhat non-topical, I have to say: I didn't think the Apolyton forums could get any uglier from an aesthetic standpoint, but the latest update managed to do so. Anyway, someone please wake me up when this game starts again. Really tough to maintain interest when we keep stopping for lengthy periods of time over and over again.

            CivFanatics Demogame started a month ago, and has since played 31 turns to our 5...

              And now Indiansmoke is actually proposing teams can only log in once per turnset.

              Considering his handle, I wonder what he's smoking.
