  • Operation Oracle

    So depending on how much stock we put into PAL's email assertion that Imperio won't get the Oracle before T95 (worth checking into certainly!) - let's bring this back up, following Ruff's suggestion to break this stuff out of the war games thread

    The best (and only pre-T95) scenario I saw was:
    Turn 89 (0):
    2 x workers onto Marble tile
    A1 reconfigured to 16 hammers per turn
    Worker @ A1 (27 / 11)

    Turn 90 (1):
    2 worker turns into quarry (4 turns to go)
    A1 Starts Oracle (16)
    Worker @ A1 Status (11 / 11)
    Oracle Status (150 start of turn / 150 - 16 = 134 end of turn)

    Turn 91 (2):
    2 worker turns into quarry (2 turns to go)
    A1 -> Oracle (16)
    Worker @ A1 Status (11 / 11)
    Oracle Status (134 / 118)

    Turn 92 (3):
    quarry finished
    A1 swaps back to Worker
    Worker @ A1 Status (11 / complete with 5 overflow)
    Oracle Status (118 / 118)

    Turn 93 (4):
    road finished - marble connected
    Worker @ A1 completes - moves & chops
    2 x forest chop (20 raw hammers)
    A1 -> Oracle (16)
    Oracle Status (118 / 118 - [5 + 16 + 2 x 20] x 2 = -4)

    Turn 94 (5):
    Oracle completes
    Is this still possible based on how we've played since then?

    Not sure - it needed Priesthood finished in 1 turn.

      Not possible, sorry. It's currently T90 and we need another turn to research Priesthood. T95 is the best we can do on Oracle.

        This is the current best option ...

        Turn 89 (0):
        2 x workers onto Marble tile

        Turn 90 (1):
        2 worker turns into quarry (4 turns to go)

        Turn 91 (2):
        2 worker turns into quarry (2 turns to go)

        Turn 92 (3):
        quarry finished
        worker at A1 1 turn away from forest chop
        A1 finishes worker - worker moves to pre chopped forest
        A1 starts Oracle (15 hammers)
        Oracle Status (150 start of turn / 135 end of turn)

        Turn 93 (4):
        road finished - marble connected
        A1 -> Oracle (15)
        Oracle Status (135 / 105)

        Turn 94 (5):
        A1 -> Oracle (15)
        2 x forest chop (20 raw hammers)
        Total hammer production 110
        Oracle Status (105, finishes)

        Turn 95 (6):
        Oracle completes
        As I stated in the player thread, I think we should push on with the Oracle trying to scare Imperio into finishing it and taking a lesser (not CS) tech.

        Fear Factors:

        - we have Priesthood
        - we have marble connected
        - we are chopping forest at capital
        - we are working mines

        If we don't want to do this, then we should have the capital in the 'max hammers' configuration while the game clock is counting down and swap into 'max commerce' just before the turn ends, then back to 'max hammers'. Remember, Imperio have a unit near our capital.

          If the turn player can pull this off, this is a good idea. Make sure the workers have their actions canceled as well, so Imperio can't see "chop a forest" dialog if they mouse over the worker (assuming their unit is that close).

              I think we are here ...

              Turn 91 (0):

              Oracle Status (150 start of turn / 135 end of turn)

              Turn 93 (2):
              road finished - marble connected
              A1 -> Oracle (15)
              Oracle Status (135 / 105)

              Turn 94 (3):
              A1 -> Oracle (15)
              2 x forest chop (20 raw hammers)

                Yep, we're right on schedule. I'll cut and paste into the turn report for T92, to keep us updated in the main discussion thread.

                  Correct me if I am wrong but A1 does not produce 15 hammers overflow next turn in the current configuration, right?
                  It currently puts 3excess food + 6 hammers into the work which is at 53/60. So only 2 overflow.
                  I assume we want to run more hammers and less commerce?
                  So I put A1 on max hammers at the cost of starvation.
                  It can now do 16hpt. That will give 9 hammers overflow which get doubled (?) for the Oracle.

                    We need 150 hammers to complete the oracle - 75 if we have marble on line. Those 150 hammers are coming from:

                    1 natural turns at A1 w/o marble ... 15 x 1 = 15
                    2 natural turns at A1 w marble ... 15 x 2 x 2 = 60
                    2 forest chops at A1 w marble ... 20 x 2 x 2 = 80

                    Total 155. We don't need any overflow. On the flip side, massive overflow will not help. In fact, we can reduce the first turn hammers to 10, max commerce to not take our eye off the GLib.

                    Note: Forest chops are on the last turn so that we don't waste them if we lose the Oracle.

                      Yep, that makes sense. I think I misread "The Plan". Will log in and change A1 back. Sorry for the confusion.
