  • The wacky tile is inside Chichen Itza's fat cross but not Cape Town's. Maybe that has something to do with it?

If the wacky tile does not flip, and Imperio's stack moves where we expect (1S of Chichen), do we consider declaring preemptively on T130 in order to send a horse in to pillage the tile?

HA at China Beach is acceptable but I think suboptimal; even a 2-mover won't get to CT before the catapult and flanking battle is over.

I think Cape Town needs a 1-turn unit, of whatever flavor. Two catapults by T131 is better than 1 of anything else. I might even consider whipping an elephant from scratch and eating the 50% penalty, which also has the upside of creating lots of overflow for 1-turn units for several turns to come even if its hammer tiles get occupied or pillaged.

On upgrades, when do we get Feudalism? I think the most cost-effective medieval upgrade is archer to longbow, in terms of salvaging an otherwise useless unit and in combat value for the gold.

    • I don't think we should upgrade anything this turn, but if people are very convinced of the need for a pike in the south then we may as well upgrade one unit at Pink. I feel we should upgrade the axeman to a mace and then after that save gold for that archer -> longbow upgrade.

I'll run the numbers on two additional cats versus one additional mace in Cape and post the results in the Crisis thread.

      • Based on the results of about 20 world-builder tests, I've come around to the 2-cat side. Can we change the build in Cape Town to a cat and get another one next turn?

It is set to catapult at the moment so there is no need to change it.

I'm fine with not upgrading anything. The final two points are: There was some disagreement with the horse archer build at China Beach (set to whip next turn). Does a majority want to change to a maceman? I'm not so sure about that one, I think a horse archer is still a good build from back there even if it will miss the flanking battle.

Also, did people agree with me changing Pink Dot from a catapult to maceman? My reasoning was that a maceman is nice to double whip next turn and we have no strength 8 units in the south.

          • I'm fine with all of that Soooo. Arguments can be made for each type of unit at China Beach and Pink, but with the Templar stack and their timing total mysteries it's really all guesswork.

            • I agree with sooooo's choices for CB & Pink. The HA from CB can head to Pink/SF to cover these two in case of a Templar attack (if we decide it's not needed at Cape).

Just logged in, and no moves from Imperio & Templars yet. Templars could be preparing to settle the stone/banana city. There's no evidence that they're roading towards us, though there's fog obscuring some tiles that they could have roaded.

Also, PAL just adopted Pacifism & Caste, so it looks like they're not going to go all out for the kill against Rabbits, but are most likely trying to get a GS to part-bulb Education.

Finally, I think it would be a good idea to start a new turnplayer thread next turn, as we've been spamming this one pretty hard in the last couple of days.

              • Looking good, guys. Feel free to swap builds around depending on what the team feels is best. (I would prefer to avoid double-penalty whips unless absolutely necessary though - remember, the game continues after the war, and we don't want to hurt long-term development too much.)

I'm unavailable for the next 12 hours, but will check in on things again tonight.

                • I'm available to check on the game during non NY work hours. If push comes to shove, I can even help with the moving of units, etc ... but I just know that I will not like it.

                    • If it gets desperate, I'm also available in non-CDT work hours.

                      • I'm available 24 hours a day

I also managed to successfully log into the game for the first time yesterday. It was like living in a movie.
