Could it be a Spy? If so, maybe we can calculate their planned DoW turn based on the time it would take to get to Cape Town plus 5 turns for max discount?

Frankly, I think they'd be better off sending a Spy through to A1 where they would find a rather soft underbelly, but I'd fully expect them to make the obvious move of trying to revolt Cape Town.

    • PAL sent us an email about 45 mins ago saying they missed the ivory / marble trade and sent it again. I just logged into the game and got a message from cres via diplo-chat "our second ivory is broken - will be reconnected in a few turns".

After a few minutes of swearing at the pc and other things in general, I clicked ok and got this ...

      Spoiler:

Edit: I didn't end the turn.

      • So does that mean we got the trade?

        • Yes, we did. Thanks for your work, Ruff! I assigned Airstrip One to work the new cottage tile, for +2 commerce.

Small micro note: with the ivory in place, our non-capital cities can grow to size 6. (A1 is maxed out at size 7.) I noticed that China Beach was one food short of growing next turn, so I re-assigned one of the Scientists to the plains cottage tile, to speed up growth by one turn. This does NOT affect our ETA for the Great Scientist:

          Current: 75/100 GPP
          With 2 Scientists this turn: 6 (81) + 6 (87) + 6 (93) + 6 (99) + 6 (105) = 5t
          With 1 Scientist this turn: 3 (78) + 6 (84) + 6 (90) + 6 (96) + 6 (102) = 5t

Thus is makes more sense to run the one Scientist this turn, grow to size 6 faster, and get in an extra turn working the cottage tile. Fairly trivial, but I wanted to let the team know of any changes I might make.

I'll run the Soldier count numbers after dinner and then end our turn. Rabbits still haven't ended either though, so we'll probably have to wait a bit until T111 actually starts.

          • Does this mean PAL canceled Imperio's Ivory and gave it to us? That's my reading.

            Comment

            • I think they gave us their only remaining ivory, so they no longer have any for themselves. Probably a mistake/misclick on their part. I'm worried that the turn will be reset and they won't agree to the deal if it is replayed.

Yes. Sorry, should have said so explicitly but I thought my inclusion of the +1 happy from phants pic would show that we have elephants.

                • Ah, yes, well, yerright.

However, all the good work is undone as the turn needs to be replayed to to PAL screwing up yet again. Looks like they moved both before and after rabbits this time.

                  • Oh dear Lord. We have to play through T110 a THIRD time?!?!

PAL is a major pain in the ass. I can't believe we have to go through this farce yet again. How many times do I have to keep making the same moves? Not to mention that we have to negotiate for ivory yet AGAIN!

                    • If they don't give us the ivory this time, I say WE replay the turn because they didn't make the same moves as before

                      • I totally agree with rego on that comment. Tonyciv should be shot ... anyone got access to his civ4 cd? We should send some goons round to revoke it.

                        • My reading on Krill's post in the connection thread was that this was actually a Rabbit error - that they agreed to the reload or whatnot and then improperly reneged.

                          • Let's propose the Ivory-Marble trade in-game, and then I'll chase up PAL until they accept the deal

                            • The game is up again. We are at the start of T110.

                              • I re-moved our units in the same way as before, and offered PAL marble for ivory in-game. Hopefully they will accept soon, we can end our turn, and then move on quickly to T111.

On another note, I need to point out that I'm going to be traveling to Sweden on Friday, and won't get back until Wednesday (Feb. 25). I'm hoping that I'll be able to play T111 before leaving, and then T112 will be spent in Anarchy swapping to Bur and HR, so I won't end up missing too much. Someone will have to take over turnplayer duties while I'm gone, however. I have full confidence that the team can deal with anything unexpected that might pop up.
