  • After looking at the game, I agree with Sooooo's suggestion for Mutal replacement. The new city would get all existing towns, so it's just as good for short-term cash, and in longer term it would also get rice field and iron mine.

One thing I don't like as much is the number of workers farming. In a private game, I wouldn't build any farms until all green tiles are covered with cottages. In particular, Jericho could run 5 cottages, and UB would be a lot more useful if it was working a few more cottages, in addition to the two cities' current role as weak missonary pumps.

    • Funny...I never build cottages until I have around 5 excess food to fuel growth!

Different playing styles, I guess. There is a reason I specialize in small empire space races. However, some strategies do carry over into other game types. I tend to do well in AW games as well, so cottages first approach can be useful even in our current situation. (And extra food usually comes from resources rather than farms for me. A 3f tile is pretty useless compared to most other improvements, but an improved food resource can fuel growth on its own.)

Yes, I think that is it. I usually go for early Domination, so Farms are a great tile for me (the production of a Farm is quite high with Slavery).
