Oh, look who cast the deciding vote . Maybe someone should have come up with something better than a lousy peanut.

    • Err .. check again Darrell - you've put Swiss Pauli in both columns. Now I know the Swiss have a strict policy of neutrality, but ...

Crosspost with sooooo . I think your tally is wrong, Swiss wanted to settle both (and hence shows up twice on my list).

Gratuitous quote/rebuttal post in the hopes that we can nail the often whispered about, but never before seen, crosspost trifecta.

          • OK, despite wanting to make jokes about the Swiss never taking a side, he did say that he wanted New Burgundy first. And we don't plan on building another settler for a while, so for me that's a vote for New Burgundy. I think it's still 7-7.

            • Well, if you're going to count *that*, then Kodii's weak vote for Old Burgundy should also count, so we'd be 8-7 :P.

                • Can I assign like .4 votes to Old and .6 to new? Just because we have a silly all-or-nothing election system in the US doesn't mean we have to adapt it to our Ethiopian Empire

Seriously though, I prefer Old Burgundy the city, I just like the road coverage of the New spot.

                    I already counted Kodii

                    • <2hrs to go until the deadline ... did we come up with a tie-break system?

BTW, I like MyOtherCar's suggestion of Upper Burgundy rather than "New", and will re-suggest Vintage Burgundy rather than "Old"

                      • Or, less creatively, Upper and Lower (especially if both are settled).

                        • If the team is completely deadlocked, the turnplayer should go ahead and make an executive decision. That's the way we handled this in the past, I believe. And I'm not saying this just because sunrise also favors New Burgundy either. We need resolution on the issue, and the turnplayer is the person of action on the team, just like when a succession game is divided and the person with the current save has to make a choice.

That's my feelings, anyway. As I said, I can live just fine with either spot.

If you mean putting more of our roads under cultural control, that will not be an issue as soon as we go on the offensive, or our borders expand in older cities. (You could similarly say that Vintage Burgundy saves worker turns by shortening irrigation chain and using pre-built farms.)

If you mean that it's closer to the front, that's countered by Old Burgundy being able to get its infrastructure going quicker.

Let's see if we can get somebody to change the vote in the final 2 hours.

                            • iirc, sunrise's point was that with the central road network in our borders:

                              a) neither Templars or Imperio could make use of it

                              b) our 2-movers who are sitting on it would not incur "away" costs, thus reducing our spending deficit.

                              EDIT: not changing my vote!

                              • Yes, but most of the tiles New Burgundy will bring in either are already in our borders, or can be brought in by border expansion in other cities. Also, this is such a short term argument that it gets balanced out by the "Old Burgundy saves a lot of worker turns" argument. And "Old Burgundy is in less danger of attack" argument.

Old Burgundy is equal to New Burgundy even without borrowing tiles and founding extra cities. However, Old Burgundy has an option to be stronger than New Burgundy by borrowing tiles. And it leaves an option to found an extra city. So Old Burgundy isn't worse in any situation, and gives us more options.
