I totally agree with this comment. We know the BA is dead but we shouldn't say it is - let them say it.

    • OK, that's fine - I didn't really want to say that either but I thought that the consensus was to call off the border agreement. Which it seems it was, just not to tell the templars

      • Looks like we're getting closer to a consensus here, which is good. Do we have a new draft template to work off of, and make final edits?

        • Well, guess what - I have another idea. It all comes from walking the dog - I tell you, you have to get a dog because you think up some great ideas when you are out walking!

          Here it is ...

          1) we agree to their border agreement for tiles south of Pink Dot and say that we will not settle another city South and East of Pink Dog
          2) w start concentrating and arguing about their northern boundary and try to convince them that we want to settle a city 1 tile South of the lake (between the lake and the cows)

          Reasoning -
re 1) note the use of the word 'another' ... this should tell them that we have already settled south of PD. Also, we don't have any plans for any city in that region anyway so why not give it to them
re 2) our real tile is 2 tiles W of the location that we are talking about and having them concentrate on the tile between the lake and the cows might force them to put a crap city down to block us - and it will also distract them. We could also just 'give in' and take the tile that we want anyway.

          • Here is a slightly modified version of Swiss' draft, including Soooooo and Ruff's suggestions about Jericho:

Team RB accepts that your team worked long and hard on this border proposal, and we sincerely appreciate you efforts towards restoring our historically close relations.

However, when you settled Jericho in the disputed territory and sent no message to us we had to assume that you scrapped the proposal, so we settled our own city in the south.

Would you like to make a new proposal in light of this, or would you like us to give you feedback on your suggestion?

Putting the Border Agreement aside, is there any other aspect of the game that you would like to discuss? As we have said in the past, Team RB remains interested in mutually beneficial trade, including tech, resources and religion.
How does this sound? (I am trying to place the blame for our southern city on them, while saying that we are still willing to negotiate.)

EDIT (Cross-posting with Ruff): The problem with saying "not settle 'another' city south of Pink Dot" is that one of our proposed cities on west coast is also south of it. And we can't simply ignore the fact that their map is unworkable because we've claimed half the land they've considered disputed.

            • I said South and East ... not just South.

And we can't simply ignore the fact that their map is unworkable
We certainly can ignore the fact that their map is unworkable. It isn't our fault that their map information is out of date.

And we haven't said that the land in the south is theirs, we have just accepted their map as it currently stands.

              • How about I make another map proposal, taking into account our initial map, their map, Jericho & SF?
We can then give it back to them, appearing to be still willing to come to an agreement, but stating that new map "takes into account recent developments"?

                • We should probably send something as quickly as possible instead of taking time to make a new map. So what are the opinions about latest posted draft?

                  Comment

                  • Er, I don't have any real issues with Zeviz's draft. Should be OK. Let's build some military in any spare cities soonish though.

                    • I was attempting a new map, and realised that there is really no point to BA. Any new map taking into account SF will look like the one we sent to them initially.

                      Re Zeviz draft:
Is there any majority for changing the 2nd paragraph to
However, when you settled Jericho in the disputed territory and sent no message to us we had to assume that you scrapped the proposal and therefore revised our settlement plan.

                      • Sounds fine to me.

                        • I am a little worried that it doesn't make it obvious that our southern city has already been settled, but I guess we can clarify it during later communication.

EDIT: This means I am fine with either version.

                          • I'm fine with that M_H as long as we add a "we" between "therefore" and "revised."

                            • so, we have this ...

                              Sir Sir Aidun [Fancy Pants],

Team RB accepts that your team worked long and hard on your proposed Border Agreement, and we sincerely appreciate you efforts towards restoring our historically close relations.

However, when you settled Jericho in the disputed territory and sent no message to us, we assumed that your team had decided to scrap the any Border Agreement. Therefore we revised our settlement plan.

Would you like to make a new proposal in light of this, or would you like us to give you feedback on your proposal?

Putting the Border Agreement aside, is there any other aspect of the game that you would like to discuss? As we have said in the past, Team RB remains interested in mutually beneficial trade, including tech, resources and religion.
