    Hello Realms Team!

Sorry it has taken me so long to respond, though I have had the time to speak to some of your members via in-game chat. So ,some of the following may come as old news, but I'll try to keep it fresh.

    1. Tech. We get Guilds in 1 turn; PAL gets Nationalism in 2 turns. No info on Imperio or Templars.

    2. Guilds trade with PAL. Now that Imperio has Guilds, I am working on a pre-emptive trade deal with them in the hopes of them rejecting an Imperio deal. This would be to your benefit, and to the very least would speak volumes about PAL's intentions should they take Imperio's deal over ours. We can discuss further the ramifications of this move once they have responded -- I have a feeling they will reject it.

    3. Your Astronomy gambit. Just wondering, wouldn't it be more beneficial for you to manually research Optics and then lightbulb a good chunk (certainly more than 858b) of Astronomy? Also, you wouldn't have to wait for the GP.

    4. Maps. Thanks for the screenshots of your rivals' lands. I have got them posted in the War Room (okay, they are in a folder next to my desk) for reference. Are there any screenshots I can get you?

That's it for now. Please let me know if there is anything else you would like to discuss.

    Regards,
    Donovan

Paper blocks Astronomy, and then so does Education. Should we send him this link:

Edit: My original article (at bottom) is obsolete after lots of community research into GP tech preferences. Thanks to notagoodname from the civ4 multiplayer ladder site for putting this new article together. In the game great people have a list of techs and a preference for each tech (no...

          • The answer to his third question is that optics is above paper in the GS lightbulbing list but paper is above astronomy.

I'm not sure we have that much to say to him in an email, maybe we should wait a bit for more news.

            • I think we could send a quick e-mail saying:

              1) how long can we keep your Iron and when do you need our Horses?

              2) Good luck!

              3) the link to the preferences thread

              4) do we need any screenies?

              • As to point 4, we should request pics of the border area with PAL, so sunrise can give him some strategic tips on dealing with any PAL stack-o-doom.

                • I found this at another demo game and thought that we might want to draw up something similar with Banana ...

                  Grandiose Contract Name

                  Permanent Alliance of 'team'-'demo game'
                  Draft 1

An agreement between team A (civ A) and Team B (Civ B).
Whereby it is recognized that - general reason for alliance #1.
Whereby it is recognized that - general reason for alliance #2.
Whereby it is recognized that - general reason for alliance #3.

                  Article 1: Non-Aggression
It is hereby agreed that we will not attack each other or provide aid, in any form, to anyone fighting any member of the alliance.

                  Article 2: Exclusivity
It is hereby agreed that we will not trade or gift technology, offer financial aid or information about alliance plans, or provide military support in any form to non-members of the Alliance.
Exceptions to this can be made only by express mutual agreement.

                  Article 3: Defense
It is hereby agreed that if either member of the alliance comes under direct military attack by an enemy power and the other alliance member is NOT under direct (or imminently direct) attack, the Alliance member who is not under attack will provide:

we need to put some sort of comments on military support

Other wording for article 3 ...
It is hereby agreed that if either member of the alliance comes under direct military attack by an enemy power then the other alliance member will provide:

Exceptions: The alliance member is released from obligations under this article if they are also under direct military attack.

                  Article 4: Technology Cooperation
It is hereby agreed that we will cooperate on technology in a generous fashion with each other.
It is hereby agreed that we will pursue rapid technological advance in good faith – and not attempt to abuse the alliance.
(ie - No member of the Alliance shall stockpile gold at a rate greater than is reasonably necessary for general strategic concerns.)
It is hereby agreed that we will openly and forthrightly share research plans to avoid any duplication of effort and ensure rapid progress.
It is hereby agreed that all technology shall be shared openly, upon request, without regard to beaker value, with each other.

Article 5: End of the Alliance
This alliance will end when Team A and Team B are the only two remaining teams in the game, or upon express mutual agreement to terminate the alliance.
It is hereby agreed that the non-aggression (article 1) part of this alliance will remain in-force for a minimum of 10 turns after the last foreign power is eliminated from the game (either by destruction or capitulation).

                  • Sorry Ruff but I think that's a bit to lawyery to be appropriate for our relationship. I see us and banana as more "pally" and informal.

Here's a draft to send to banana:

                    Hi Team Banana,

Good luck with the guilds trade with PAL. Just to let you know, they have been blanking us recently. We offered them drama+cash for optics but they never replied despite a followup. Let us know if they reply to you.

Regarding your question about optics: In the GS lightbulb order, optics is above paper but paper is above astronomy, so we need to use it on optics. It is not the most efficient use of a scientist but even saving a handful of turns repays a lot by getting our trade routes back sooner. See http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=140952.

We wouldn't mind a screenshot of the border between you and PAL and the centre of PAL's lands since that is the only place we have not scouted. We may be able to help you with defensive tactics if we know the lay of the land.

How about we arrange our horses+iron to be in 10-turn blocks. We would have them until T154, then we'll trade them to you for 10 turns and so on. Oh, and can we have guilds this turn please . If either of us have emergency needs for them then we can change it later.

                    Cheers,

                              • OK, banana managed to get both music and paper from PAL for guilds. We have the options to trade maps. What does the team think? I think we should do it, considering that we need spy data on PAL's cities to watch out for Taj Mahal. But we should state to banana that they cannot trade their map away to anyone else after they have our map knowledge, so if they want to trade for the PAL or rabbit maps then they need to do it beforehand.
