    What I didn't notice before sending the previous message is that we popped another Copper this turn, so how about we trade Iron for Copper for the next 10 turns?

      • That was the plan, Banana does Guilds and we do Gunpowder. Which makes more sense than the other way around. We're the stronger researcher so we should do the more expensive tech. Also we would like to have trade control of the more important tech.

        PAL is running 0% science at the moment so any peek at research wouldn't be meaningful. We can ask Banana anyway, though.

        We do have some downtime before Gunpowder though; let's take that to the Tech Discussion thread.

        I would be fine with supplying Engineering to Banana early, in a show of faith since they need to trust us later on the Guilds for Gunpowder trade. That may also make PAL realize they need to keep up, and trade Philosophy to us for it.

          • Instead of a guilds-gunpowder trade it seems better to offer a nationalism-guilds trade. That would take care of the 1000 beaker defecit. We would also agree that they do not build the Taj Mahal.

              • Suggested email. Note this includes the nationalism-guilds trade. For any gunpowder-guilds trade advocates I'm fine changing it but I'd like to hear the reasoning.

                How's things? Thanks for letting us know the feudalism date. Our team has a suggestion for another tech trade: We'd give you nationalism and you'd supply guilds. This would wipe out the beaker gift we'd owe you. In order to make the trade as soon as we have the techs then we'd require you not to attempt the Taj Mahal. We assume that this tech offer is confidential and that no party will inform other teams of our plans. Also, the team would like to know what PAL is researching now. They have finished paper it seems and we'd like to keep tabs on them.

                • Sounds good (and if they agree to not go after Taj, I have no problem with Nationalism for Guilds trade). One wording change: replace "wipe out the beaker gift" with "take care of the beaker gift".

                            We accept your trade proposal. And the confidentiality of our arrangements is a pretty foregone conclusion at this point, as far as I am concerned.

                            We can begin researching Guilds in 3 turns, and are currently looking at a 12-turn discovery rate. I am hoping to cut that rate down a bit, but will be building a new city in a couple of turns. We''ll have to see what that does to maintenance. How many turns until you discover Nationalism?

                            As far as giving up claim to a chance the Taj Mahal, that sounds reasonable enough. One less thing for me to worry about. We will also want to discuss how we are going to shift Horses and Iron around for our mutual benefit once Guilds is discovered. But it looks like we'll have a bit of time for that.

                            Re: PAL, they had originally started on Education (8 turns) but are now on the path for Music (2 turns).

                            Also, if one of us are able to acquire Paper from PAL, what are the chances of our trading maps? I know that it would be a huge leap of faith for us both, but could give each of us advantage over the other teams if they aren't able to work out such an arrangement. It goes without saying that the aforementioned confidentiality clause would apply to this endeavor as well.

                            Lastly, I just wanted to inform you that we are temporarily devoting Espionage points to your team to the point where we can see your demographics. It looks like you are in a position to see ours, so you may have to adjust your level slightly to maintain that info in the coming turns.

                            • Well that's jolly nice of him. We should supply engineering to them now in the hope that they will do the same for guilds, because 15 turns is a few turns shorter than we can get nationalism.
