    Hello Team Realms,

    We will discover Calendar next turn. We have also finally received word from Templars, and they are IN -- they discover Drama in 5-6 turns. What tech are you researching now? We are hoping to trade Calendar to Imperio for Currency next turn; if that works, we'll begin Feudalism immediately.

    Hercules from Templars is my current contact with Templars, but he seems to be using his personal email for correspondence. I'll let him know that you need to speak with his team, and see if it's okay to give you his email address.

    Regards,
    Donovan
    Sweet!

    • Great news! We have workers that are ready to start plantations at Something Fishy (dyes) and Saxon the Beach (silks). Timing could not be better.

      I also love the fact that Banana is so good about responding to emails. Probably should tell them that we have Engineering under way, and that we will be happy to trade it to them for Feudalism in the near future.

      • That is very good news.

        We can use the A1 spear to do MP duty in Bad Ass once the first calendar resource is in.

        • I was going to send a quick note to Banana (see their email in post #211), but it ended up being a bit more than a simple reminder, so I saved the text below as a draft in our gmail:

          Hi Donovan,

          Thanks for the update. Unfortunately, Templars have just gotten Construction from Imperio, so they've broken the 'tech triangle' we had proposed. We'll take this up with Templars directly, but we'd appreciate it if you could express your disappointment at the way they're behaving.

          Imperio doesn't have any Calendar resources, but we think that they'd be happy with the trade you're proposing. Assuming this goes ahead, how long do you think Feudalism will take? We'll have Engineering in 6 turns or so.

          Cheers,

          Swiss Pauli

                  • Here is an email from banana.

                    Hi Swiss,

                    It looks like we will have Feudalism in 8 turns, perhaps less but unlikely. I'll see if I can work out anything faster.

                    As far as the Templars go, that is very unfortunate and I will have a word with them. Especially since I let them take a Fishing Boat through our territory. I want to be careful with them diplomatically as I would obviously like to traverse their coastline in the very near future.

                    Also, it looks like Imperio got Machinery? I hope this doesn't taint the deal we made earlier (re: 1000-1300 beakers for our not pursuing Feudalism for Machinery). For the record, once you made your offer, I did not approach Imperio any further on the matter. Let me know if this needs to be re-addressed because the last thing we want is to look like we were out to rip you off, because that certainly was not our intention.

                    Lastly, it looks like Turn 124 will see the end of our 10-turn Iron agreement. Do you still have a need for it? We could rent it out to you further on a gpt basis if you find that acceptable (it could help us get Feudalism faster).

                    Let me know....

                    Respectfully,
                    Donovan

                    • We would need iron again once we have engineering for pikes.

                      • Points to cover in our reply to Banana:

                        - 8 turns for Feudalism sounds fine to us;

                        - Thanks for following up with Templars;

                        - The beaker credit for not trading Feudalism from Imperio still stands;

                        - We probably won't need Iron again until we've completed Engineering. How much gpt would it cost, and do they need any resources (dyes/wines/silks).

                        Anything else to address?

                        • No, and I agree that floating a dyes + silks for iron trade (or something along those lines) is a better way to go than asking for gold per turn.

                            • Proposed text:
                              Hi Bananas!

                              We'd don't have a problem with Feudalism in 8 turns; sooner is better but don't sweat it. Speaking of Feudalism, the beaker credit promised still stands. We considered the possibility that Imperio might be self-researching Machinery, but decided against taking that risk.

                              Thanks for following up with Templars; we'll let you know what they come back to us with about the tech-triangle debacle.

                              We probably won't need Iron again until Engineering is in the bag. Last time around, you weren't so interested in getting happy resources in return. How might things look in half a dozen turns? We'll have Dyes and Silks to trade at this point.

                              Cheers,

                              Swiss

                              I don't think we did consider Imperio getting Machinery themselves, but I don't think it'll hurt for him to think us smarter than we are I skipped the cash for iron for now.
