The problem with an Atlantis event is that it imbalances the land in our island's favour, so I don't see Rabbits and PAL possibly agreeing to it.

The best outcome for us is that Rabbits take over Banana's land so that they can become a credible opponent to PAL.

Almost forgot: Banana built Pyramids. I very much hope they border the Rabbits and not PAL!

I don't see how it will imbalance things towards our island's favour. PAL for certain and Rabbits maybe already benefit from Banana's slack gameplay.
I don't think we want either one, not even Rabbits take over the juicy starting position of another civ.

The Pyramids will have to go obviously.

It's really been frustrating to put a significant amount of time and effort into this Demogame, only to be let down so badly on the organizational side of things. We had the atrocious setup process, the poorly balanced map (done by a mapmaker who didn't even know how to disguise his edits), teams NEVER having the courtesy to end their turns on time, and now a total team dropout less than 100 turns into the game. This has pretty much been a train wreck from start to finish.

When we finish and do a post-game moratorium, I'm going to have some ugly things to say.

I thought the map was designed for 7 teams in the first place anyways...am I mistaken?

I think you are not mistaken. I doubt our continent was intended for 4 civs. So if it is the other continent, it would explain PAL expansion rate. Even more important then that Banana's land vanishes beneath the waves.

I seriously doubt anyone would want to step into the shoes of banana. If I wanted to play in a demogame I'd want to control my own start, not inherit someone else's after 90 turns.

                Tis a shame really.

Probably the best thing is for an AI to take over? No idea. Anyway, our best approach from here on is to have fun trying to take over our own continent and try not to worry who benefits and in what way from what is hapenning over there. When we get to the endgame, it's possible that things will be tilted in favour of a civ from the other continent but at RB we've always thrived in playing against the odds. Just think of this as a no-metals variant where our neighbours get great starts and there is mansa on his own on a large continent. We play games like that all the time at Realms Beyonds!

why don't we create user IDs like Ih_Ffur and ooooos and volunteer to take over Banana?

                    @ Ruff:

Really, I think an Atlantis event is fine. An AI would be ridiculously unbalancing, and they shouldn't complain about land if they already have a fourth civ's land to share between them.

Yes, Atlantis event would be least unbalancing. The problem is agreeing on how much land to leave them. Besides, chances are PAL and Rabbits already expanded aggressively, taking advantage of Banana's inactivity.

I'd sugges Krill do the Atlantis thing, because he knows how much land teams on our continent started with.

Automated Teller, the guy who took over Banana, is complaining about a lack of diplo reply and activity in their forums. Understandably he is about to loose interest in the game.

I am hoping that PAL wipes out Rabbits soon, and that maybe some of the Rabbits will migrate to Banana.
Otherwise this game could become very lopsided in a week or two.

For future demo games, I wonder, whether it would be good after all to play on a very high diff level and have take over AI activated.

M_H - That's a better plan but not ideal. It's certainly better than teams quitting and having noble/prince AI take over, BUT the higher the difficulty the more boring the game due to longer research times and hence slower progress. Best case scenario is just to create reliable teams (like us!).

As for Rabbits joining Banana...is that allowed? It seems they would have possibly unfair spoiler info.

I think it is "common" behavior to have refugees to spread around other teams.
Rabbits going to Banana would be a "natural" migration.

In case it gets taken down, this is from Zoid (bananas):

For starters, PAL has made double moves.

They took out Watership Down, and moved an army next to Valley Hutch in 500 BC. Probably not long before the timer lapsed because the last time I checked, there were less then 12 hours left for that turn. At the onset of 475 BC (the turn has 40+ hours to go as I type this) they attacked Valley Hutch with the moved army and lost 3 units for our axe defender and chariot. They then conquered and razed the city.

Below's the eventlog of things that happened.

Strictly speaking, they lost their "first move" pregorative when they played the turn mere hours before it finished in 500 BC, and took it back when they played before us in 475 BC. The outcome would probably have been different in 475 BC because we could reinforce Valley Hutch with an extra axeman if we could have moved before them.

Perhaps we should have a designated spokesperson to post in these kinds of threads. Or at least make a rule about people not replying to each other. Otherwise it might look like we are jumping on every chance to use rules to our favor. (First we were actively looking for replacement/removal of Banana, then we protested Imperio's request for break. Now we seem to be the only team interested in investigating Rabbits' claim.)

I am not opposed to trying to push policy in direction favorable to us, but when more than half of the posts discussing these issues are from RB members, it might not look good. Or I might just be over-analising this.
