Can we talk to these guys (and/or Rabbits) out of game and see if they think they can meet us in game at all?

Even a scout standing on a hill as our galley sails by might work.

Okay so going from the recent PAL thread - do we want to draft an email to Banana (and/or Rabbits) to warn them about PAL?

Well, we could, but there could be downsides:

As our first contact with their teams, they could be mistrustful of us. They could be buddies with PAL and tell them what we told them. That would scupper our trade and they would just get IW off of Imperio. We should probably gain their trust through the normal diplomatic channels before saying "Hello! We're realms beyond. Your neighbours have a thin defence!".

I tried talking to these guys right at the get go and got back nothing - not even a blank email. I wasn't sure if it was because they don't care or we haven't made contact in-game yet.

Well I don't think we need to point that out - I was thinking something along the lines of

"We're kind of worried that PAL already has 6 cities - are you?"

I am very much in favor of waiting until official contact has been made in-game.

Since Rabbits and Banana are roleplaying teams, they might see any email contact before in-game contact as cheating. Although it doesn't hurt to ask. We can send an email along the lines of:

"What is your team's view on the extent of email discussion allowed before in-game contact? We've had a lot of contact with PAL and some other teams, but since you lack in-game contact with us, how much information would you consider appropriate for us to share?"

This would leave the decision up to them, but would also hint that they are in danger of being left out of all of the game's alliances if they insist on isolation.

While this isn't technically a rule for this game, the rule of almost all poly demogaems were that there should be no out of game contact before in game contact. Of course, sending a simple email asking if the other team is OK with the out of game contact would be a good idea first, or even better bringing it up in the public forum to decide about the rule.

It has been three weeks since anyone from Banana has logged into the game which equals 5 turns. For me that looks like a dead team. They would have no idea about trades offered, wars declared and idle workers.

Krill, can you tell us whether they have any discussion going on in their forums?
Otherwise I suggest we make concerted effort to repopulate the team with new players.

The safest thing (for myself) to do is to decline to do anything; I have to remain neutral. What you guys can do however is broach that subject in the public forum (and maybe ask for a pause while it's confirmed or denied).

I got this reply from EPW to a PM:

"I havn't been able to play, and Will9 disappeared. And no one else on our team is active. I would Team Banana is dead."

What do we do about that?
I suggest to bring this one up in the public forum and put the game on hold until we find either new players for Banana or a solution for the current situation (AI take over, complete deletion of Banana (more land for PAL!)).

I feel we should act swiftly on this.

Making sure we speak with one voice in that matter.
It does not seem that people are exactly queuing up to take over Banana.
I prefer a solution in which all Banana land is converted to water tiles by a sort of Atlantis event.
The last thing we want to see, is PAL spreading into Banana lands.
I am not sure this can actually be done, but I guess the host might open the save in worldbuilder and do those changes?
Krill, or would you be able to do that if it comes to it?
