About the huts and events, I voted for them because they would make the RP aspect more flavorful. However, if most people prefer to focus on strategic and competitive aspects of the game, we should vote for turning them off. (A free promotion to all units event would be pretty unbalancing.)

Now that I think more about it, we should probably vote for events off just because of that free promotion event. However, I still like the idea of goody huts.

PS And I agree that it's better to avoid Terra unless we like the idea of some teams getting a fast exit.

      new world landmasses - two

      Furthermore I vote:

Will the difficulty level affect the extent of barbarians settling the new world?
If so, I vote raging Deity barbs.

          The latest categories for voting:
          old world landmasses -
          new world landmasses -
          map size - standard
          climate -
          sea level -

I filled out standard size based on previous responses, esp those from sooooo and Zeviz, so I'll vote for that one straight away. We have until Thursday to vote on the other options.

Can somebody familiar with MP explain the implications of 1 vs. 2 old world land masses?

I'd vote to keep number of new world land masses unknown, just for fun.

As for the rest of options:
              map size - standard
climate - generally sunny, with warm summers and snow in the winter, although I am getting used to California, so would be fine with "Mediterranean" climate too
              sea level - pre-global warming
barbarian clothing - the most colorful traditional costumes they can find

I think standard size map. I really couldn't give a crap about the other options.

I hope the patch is released soon so we can finally start this thing!

These were the winning options. Krill voted for Toroidal, which indicates a thought - which I had too - to mess with a Portuguese New World gambit by imposing heinous maintenance costs

Two Old World landmasses had most votes, but Krill objected as only 2 teams (out of 5) voted for it. I support the original result, but pointed out that the options should be more limited to reduce chance of minority wins.

                          The next votes:

                          City Razing - Yes/No

                          Culture Flipping - Yes/No

Culture Flipping after Conquest - Yes/No

I think the defaults are all Yes and my vote is to keep it this way.

                              Yes, Undecided, NO

The default for culture flipping after Conquest is "no." Changing that setting means that any cities we capture will have a good chance of flipping back to the civ we captured them from. That seems like a very a-typical setting.

EDIT: As Zevis has informed me of another pending vote, I vote 24hrs for turn timer.

Well, any aggressor must make sure he brings enough garrison troops to ensure the city does not flip back.
