  • To war or to expand/build

Since this team is founded on rabbitratical principles, everyone has an equal say. However, the rabbits ears aren't what they used to be so it isn't easy to determine what the majority of rabbits want to happen with our beloved Caerbannog.

What the could determine sofar is that there are several rabbits quite vocal in their desire for , while several others are more inclined towards on our existing hutches or even expanding further.

Now, since we're as always united, it is the opinion of the rabbits better to have the matter decided sooner then later since we're about at a junction in our schedule.

Therefore this poll station will be open for the next 4 days to settle the matter for the foreseeable future. The matter at hand:
    • Create an army of invincible warbits ASAP and throw them at our target when ready, whatever the target at that time is.
    • Expanding our empire should be the first priority, with the necessary facilities to help it become great and seek contact with other continents.

Now, let there be discussion, let there be discord if necessary, but above all let it be polite and conclusive. And if some wabbit thinks there's another way, let 'm speak up.

    Two rules:
    No name calling.
If someone already voted in the poll, he/she can change his/her mind by posting this clearly.
    0
War is the Way, and our way should be war!
    0%
    0
Exploration, Expansion, Construction should be our guiding principles at this point!
    0%
    0
I dunnow what to think of those two options, or perhaps I have another proposal...
    0%
    0

    The poll is expired.

I'm actually going to surprise everyone by saying I'm open to being pursuaded either way. I truly believe both are viable options to our current position, and while my personal style is certainly more pointy than others, my rather vocal advocation of the pointies has been based on my assumption that pointiness was the team's will, and I was worried some were going to go all pointy without enough pointies to be pointy enough, pointedly.

      So...pursuade me:

Why would one benefit over the other? Let's hear it.

I think Chuckman said it best when he pointed out that if the other civs on the other continent make a tech trade deal and we're at war with PAL we'll be well and truly buggered tech-wise...

E.E.C. - Let's deal with the other continent first, then give PAL a good thumping!!!!

The sooner we deal with the financial twins, the less chance they have of getting that all important tech lead.............

From the other thread I posted:

At this moment I favor a 3 member continental alliance. Let us build a couple of galleys to make contact with the other continent. Only when we develop mutually beeficial relationships with the other continent should we consider attacking PAL. Why? Because if the other continent (which has 2 financial races) develops a tech alliance, they will outpace us. Even more so if we are fighting among ourselves on this continent.

If we as a team choose this more peaceful route, we should expand aggressively. We should use the Oracle slingshot to grab Code of Laws which gives us access to our unique building the Rathaus.

We should save the Maoi Statues for the city we will eventually build on the tip of our continent just South of Caerbannog.
Yes, negotiations could take some time.

I fear our strategic position would be very weak, if we let PAL grow.
Looking at the map, it's clear PAL can concentrate their troops in one
single city (the ivory one) while we must split ours to protect two or
three (our newest one plus one or two to northwest).
Or, if PAL settles our NW previous than us, then we are boxed.
By this reason, I vote War.
              Best regards,

                  If, if, if.

I've always operated on the belief you deal with what is in front of your NOW, not what might happen eventually if this and that occurs.

As it stands, our diplomacy really hasn't been towards a 3 civ alliance. Rather a 2 civ one. IF we are going the peacefull route, we REALLY need to get on the ball diplomatically speaking.

If we as a team choose this more peaceful route, we should expand aggressively. We should use the Oracle slingshot to grab Code of Laws which gives us access to our unique building the Rathaus.
I find this situation unlikely. COL slingshots are rather rare in MP. Much more likely to get an earlier tech. But, the Oracle is a fairly large gamble at this point, IMO.

We should save the Maoi Statues for the city we will eventually build on the tip of our continent just South of Caerbannog.
Um...I don't know how popular the Maoi are. But, they do offer a nice, build time, and the GPP are as valuable as the effects. It would be better to have them in an unideal location than to wait and not get them, no?

(speaking of, Q from a non-BTSer. Are Great Spies treated as regular great people, or more like great generals when it comes to GPP? I'm guessing the former. Also, what do they offer?)

That's why I say or to build it in our capital, or to found a city the soonest south of the capital which will most likely have the most water tiles in its citycross.

They're regular great people. You can use them for a Golden Age for instance.
When lightbulbed in a foreign city, they give a significant (one time) EP increase 500 I believe) to us against that civ. Or they can lightbulb Scotland Yard in one of our cities, doubling the output of that city. And of course there's the specialist residing in a city thing. But its most lethal use can be to play the invisible unit to scout out an opponents territory without being ever caught or seen. Its an invisible unit.

I don't know why he saved my life. Maybe in those last moments he loved life more than he ever had before. Not just his life - anybody's life, my life. All he'd wanted were the same answers the rest of us want. Where did I come from? Where am I going? How long have I got? All I could do was sit there and watch him die.

Do the opponents have a chance to run into it and thus discover it (ala subs), or is it completely immune to all hostilities?

It's completely impregnable. Cannot be seen and cannot be discovered. EVAR!
