Intelligence is very valuable at this stage of the game. Telling them we are on a corner of the landmass is valuable to them if they do not know that. I would be reluctant to tell them much of anything more at this point.
We have other ways as you point out.
I belive the original message (except for that one sentence about location) was very well done.
