Fish, 2 whales, and wheat!!
(pay no attention to the hilight in the picture, I have a "show potential borders" setting turned on)
Ooooooooo now we're talking!!!!
I like the look of the forest square 6 of the cow
This gives us 4 resources, a coastal city for commerce and 3 hills plus settling there will pop the hut on the coastal square below.
Another good site (perhaps for our second or third city) is 3 of the wheat and that encompasses the other whale resource and the wheat and would fill up the bottom half of our peninsula nicely.Artificial Intelligence is no match for Natural Stupidity.

That sounds reasonable.
Next, I suggest sending the scout one or two steps to the south to see if it really ends there, then up the west coast to pop the hut and explore the river area. That may be a good place for our second city.
Now for the next set of arguments...uh...questions:
1. What do we name the city?
2. What do we build? Are we brave enough for a worker or do we timid bunnies feel defenseless?
3. What to research? Since we have mysticism, shall we use it to get an early religion?
Definitely not the worst start I've had

That's a good site,indeed.
But I would prefer the site one tile south (36 from stone/settler) :
We lose 1 hills, but win 1 wheat/plains and 1 whales.
Lots of food (fish, wheat, cows) good hammers (stone,cows,hills/plains/
forest) and commerce.
And the grasses and forests still free to develop as we decide.
Best regards,

Remember that real estate will be at a premium in this game, especially compared to the Warlords DG, I think Fed's suggestion would be a bit wasteful of this most treasured possession....Let your every day be full of joy, love the child that holds your hand, let your wife delight in your embrace, for these alone are the concerns of humanity.

Nice things to see there.
Fed, I symphatize with your desire to have as much resources within our capital's citycross as possible, but I'm with Rob here. Not only for the real estate issue, but also for the strategic value of a later city on that peninsula on the spot FeMme suggested (southeast of the wheat).
That way we're sure we have a city which gives easy access between those two oceans and also has a few resources.
Nevertheless, it's an option.
FeMme likes to settle on the grass forest east of the cow. It might be a nice spot, but I'd like to see those hills in the northeast first before going for that. Personally I'd hate to lose those 30 potential hammers the forest can yield. But if one of those hills has resources...
Therefore I suggest to move the settler along the blue line in the attached pic. This way we can see what the hills offer (I can see already there's 1 plain hill and 2 grass hills) and are in a position to either settle on FeMme's spot or on my preference of the moment on the plot south next turn.Last edited by GeoModder; February 13, 2010, 15:51.

I keep saying the yellow city. Because,
fish:5F 2C, wheat:4F 1H, cow:3F 3H, stone:5H (+chop), plains/hills/forest:3H, later 2 whales, each:2F 1H 3/4C.
If to want a very powerful capital is waste...yes,I want to waste.
The site 3 of wheat has two dangers, if the ground doesn't go further
south then the transfer dock is worthless, and no visible production;
so, no reason, I think, to place the capital to keep room for it.
Sure, the hills to our north can have some happy resources (that's the
only ones we can see now) but our 2nd city can go there; high food
in capital and imperialistic settlers help a bit.
So, I vote on the yellow site and hope you all too.
Best regards,

I believe we should send the settler to the blue city site. As Rob points out land will be of a premium. Blue city site would allow for 2 additional cities in the imeediate area; the one 3 of wheat and 1-1-1 of the blue city site if coastal food is present.Yes, negotiations could take some time.
