Three bars for the golden wealth within our halls,
Blue for the sea and sky one day to be ruled,
Red for mortal foes doomed to die,
A crown for NYE the leader of men
In the Land of Apolyton where the Shadows lie.
One team to rule them all, One team to find them,
One team to bring them all and in the DemoGame bind them
In the land of Apolyton where the Shadows lie.

Hi all. This thread is for everyone to introduce themselves and talk about yourself (if you want). I'll add a bit shortly...

I'm Krill, I've been a poster on these boards since I was 15, been playing civ since I was 14. I'm almost 20, and I'm at university in Durham, England, studying to be a chemist. I have long hours, 28-30 in lectures and labs a week, and various work outside that, so I'm usually busy, but only in the day.

I first joined GS during 2004, and it was the first team that I asked to join, and I've learnt alot from the original members of GS. I hope that the calm and relaxed, and overall happy atmosphere continues to stay with the team. I lok forward to playng this game and having some fun with everyone in the team

      I'm UnOrthOdOx.

Been on the boards here for far too long (I'ld have to look after this actually posts to know 2002?), was a news editor for a time, was asked to help up the podcasts.

I'm nearly 32, work for The Boeing Company on contract to the USAF. I work days, while my wife works nights, to minimize daycare (we actually think parents should raise the kids) for our 3 kids. One of which is a baby, which means most evenings are spent following her to make sure she doesn't eat something bad, thus very little time on the desktop. As CIV doesn't run on the laptop, that leaves little gaming time. Forums, however...

My first love, however, is always Halloween. As I used to build things on a semi-professional level, it's been demoted to hobby lately. Still, expect me to be absent every year from Sept through October as I build the most insane yard haunt around.

        I'm ZargonX.

I've been on Poly for years now, and participated back in the first CivIII MP demogame way back when. Since then, I've taken part in many of the demogames, as well as taken over as the head of the Apolyton Univeristy (though that has certainly fallen to the wayside...)

I'll be 29 in just a few short weeks, and I'm currently leaving my job of five years to go start a new one next week. I'm a web master by day, and a writer and filmmaker by night.
I make movies. Come check 'em out.

My handle is notyoueither, or nye if you like. No caps, please. That means New Years Eve. I'm not quite that important.

But seriously, I am... 43 (needed fingers, toes, and a couple somethings to carry the sums). I've been a civaholic for some time now. I can't stay away from the game, but lately it has been demogaming as my preferred mode.

I started a small computer business several years ago, and have been blessed by some success. This has given me a fairly large degree of freedom to do what I want up until recently. Things are harder going now (go figure when the local telcos give you a computer for signing up, among other things) so I do not have the time to give that I used to. That's why I conned Krill into being captain this time.

Sir Ralph and I started Gathering Storm a long, long time ago, in a game far, far away. The team would have sucked without him. I asked him if he wanted to start a team for the original MP DG. He not only said yes, but sent the invites that resulted in a wealth of talent that made the original GS resemble a dream team. We didn't win, so that tells you that mechanics are not the be all and end all of demogame MP.

The second incarnation of GS for the CIV DG has been much more quiet than the first. This has been a bit disappointing. I am looking forward to a more open and vibrant version for this game. Anyone who reads this should feel free to jump in and make it happen. You may think you need to defer to some old fart who's been around more than one block, but you would be quite incorrect. Although it has history, this is your team now, make it what you want it to be.

There are 3 rules for GS. Learn. Have fun. Be nice. Do these things and this incarnation of the Storm will fulfill the purpose of the team, and will be a success no matter the outcome of the game.

I'm Wouter Snijders, more commonly known as Locutus, and I've done waaayyy too many of these threads already

I'm Dutch, 27 and officially still a student (Apolyton and Civ kinda threw me off schedule). Study Computer Science and minored in History, so I'm a certified nerd. Aside from Civ and gaming I love programming, history, sports, movies, podcast(s/ing), Dutch cabaret (nothing like the French/American version, more like stand-up comedy if anything but not much like that either).

My Civ resume is far too long to list, or even remember. Short version: been playing Civ since '92, making it since '04 ('00 if you count CtP2 and Alt Civs); been coming to Apolyton since '98, owned it since '06 My first DG was for CtP2, done a couple more since but not really part of any of the traditional 'clans' if you will, I like to move around a lot.

Hey, I'm David Schowalter, aka HTower, or HT, or Tower, (i've never been fond of when people call me "high" it isn't even in my nick) I'm 25, working far too many hours a week on a new client implementation for Hewitt Associates in Chicagoland.

I'm not sure exactly when I started civving, but I remember my dad helping me hack the original Civ savefile so that the romans had a battleship and some knights at the start of the game because otherwise it was too easy.

I've been visiting Apoly since the 1990's but only registered after the forum was opened to free, hotmail type accounts in '01.

I've been demogaming since CFC came up with the idea for civ2 a long time ago, but spent most of my demogaming time in the Apoly Civ2 games. I didn't particularily enjoy Civ3, but joined a few teams to watch how it was done, and hoping I might get to like the game eventually. Now with Civ4, my computer is too old, too slow to run it, and I can't afford to build myself a new one quite yet, too many upcoming expenses like buying an engagement ring (tips, things to look for in selecting a ring will be gladly accepted.)

Lets see, I know some of you, and others only by name. UnO and I have crossed paths before here and on other forums.

                Ditto for Zargon.

Locutus and I were together on the CtP1 or was it 2? demo game, more for cultural flavor than actually contributing to game play.

nye and krill I only know by reputation, but I only know good things.

I joined GS because I wanted a change of pace from the same members that I've been with for what seems like half a dozen demo games.

I'd like to welcome a couple of new posters on the forums to GS. PLease, post, ask questions if you don't understand why something is done in a particular way; it could be that you are pointing out a very obvious flaw in the plan, that some of the so called wiser heads have missed. The worst that can happen is that somebody learns something new.

I'm Aidun. The name is a somewhat degenerated version of the Gaelic name Aidan or Aedan, which means "fire", and which fits me quite well, since I can be quite passionate in my gaming. I like the Celtic culture, hence the choice for Gaelic nick.
I don't live in Ireland and I am not even Irish in fact, but Dutch, although I strongly feel European as well, hence the EU flag.

I'm studying political science (almost finished with grad school) in Leiden, with a focus on international relations and European integration.

As you can see in my sig, I've been around for quite some time, although not as long as some members here. I've been member of RP, but not very busy with the gameplay. Then I've been member of the Monarchist Imperialist team at MZO. The third important team I've been member of is Sarantium. In the past I've mostly concerned with diplomacy and formulating general diplomatic/military strategies.

                            I forgot to add:

I came to Apolyton because I was working on a World War I mod for vanilla Civ 3 back in 2002, because I found it a fascinating war and there was no mod on it (only WW II). Shortly after joining Apolyton I abandoned the project and devoted myself to the first C3DG and later to the C3 PTW DG, the first MP DG.

                            I'm currently 23 years old.

I'm N35t0r, which is Nestor written in l33t. My name is Simon Gall. I live, and was born, in Argentina. I'm 23 now, and I'm studying electronic engineering, though just startig.
I have been playing Civ since a friend introduced me to Civ 1 back in 1993. I discovered this site while looking for civ 2 mods somewhere around 1998-1999, and at the time only had internet access at school, so getting the files home meant a box of 3 1/2' floppies in my backpack.
When civ 3 came out I didn't really like it, so I stuck to Civ 2, for which great scenarios were still coming out. Civ 4 has bought me over, though.

I wasn't a participant in the original Civ3 demogames, but did lurk/participate in the two Civ2 ones which were organized, so as soon as a civ 4 DG was organized, I decided to participate.

I like it better to pick different teams for different games, and I'm involved in the Alpha Centauri team in the Civ 4 DG and the Spanish team in the Warlords DG, and I decided to join GS since I know Krill and nye briefly from my lurking on the second round of the C3C IDG, as well as some other guys from when I posted on MZO.
