kodill, can you please pm me the wrongs of Apolyton that makes you consider the possibility to move away from Apolyton. Have we as Apolyton Admin failed? Please tell me how we can improve ourselves to be a better host for your games.Formerly known as "CyberShy"

Well, well. Look at this.
The game started in a mess, there was a mess when disputes arose and teams vanished and it seems to end in a mess. Who would have thought.
Frankly, if Templars don't want to open their forums, fine. I personally think that there is nothing written in there that could help me improve my civ skills. And people playing with me will know what that means.

Anyway, I would like Krill to reconsider his decision. conmcb24 is "just" one team member of one of the weaker teams. I don't think his activities within the Templars team will have had much influence on the history of this Game.
This whole discussion just lets people wonder what it was he was posting, that need to be censored. I can't believe its cracking strategic stuff but rather insults at other teams?
So then, who cares. conmcb24, is there a special reputation, that you have to uphold and that your posts would have an detrimental effect on?
TeamRB has already decided to open our forums without sanitizing. You will find lots of strong opinions voiced there by multiple players about the other teams and even certain individuals.
From my little experience here, I would now not be surprised to have a flame war started over each and everyone of them. Maybe we should reconsider.
From what I can see about our team stats, we ended with 41 members, drawing in 20 new Apolyton members just because of this game and have countless other re-activate their accounts here. The way this game developed (and here I am referring not just to the little open-forum discussion), I think many of those will just go back into hiding as far as Apolyton is concerned. I know I will.
@ Robert Plomp: Yes, you modified the map for this game. Since you will find much swearing and criticism directed your way at least from our team (possibly from Templars as well, but hey, we will never know), I would like you to write up a few comments, if you can remember and can find the time. Thanks.
The thing I regret the most, is probably the fact that PAL has not used the forums to comment on their decisions and have their actions recorded. That would have made for an interesting read.
Cheers.

I had been active for the Templars for about 6 months, then went inactive in late January. Work issues that I partially explained to my teammates at the time, and would be happy to explain further now. I had not even been to the website since then, until today. Surprised and saddened by our loss, and more so by our failed diplomacy.
My opinions of the current controversy:
Herc should be proud of his work, and deserves to be publicly praised.
I would love for my posts to become public, so that others can critique my logic. I have been for this from the beginning.
However, Con has been very vocally against that from the beginning. As a ‘casual player’, I never felt assertive enough to contradict that opinion. Since Con had been under that impression, he obviously posted differently.
Sadly, I say the Templar fora must remain closed.

Everything went against us with this demogame (with perhaps the exception of Banana). Some were simply fault of our fate within the game, but others that could have been avoided. The game should not have taken months to set up nor should there be this sort of dispute at the end of the game. It didn't appear that the admins paid any attention to the game or put any effort to keep it running smoothly. I went the entire game without knowing who the admins even were.Last edited by Kodii; August 24, 2009, 03:22.

Hi,

I have still managed to have some fun with this game, but found it very frustrating at times and didn't participate as much as I had wanted in the beginning due to this. I don't think I will participate in any further Apolyton events.

Really I think that only extends to Rabbits, PAL never used their private forum here, Banana didn't for most of the gme either, and Imperios is entirely in spanish.

@Viking: Must have been a very thorough spring cleaning.
About the forum discussion: if Templar feel they have something to hide, he leaves us reaching our own conclusions: game-wise they did very poorly (as I would have done maybe, playing on my own ). And what could be hidden that we may not see? It can't be brilliant strategy they would like to keep from the rest, so I assume someone feels embarassed about the things he said about the other teams.
Just now it feels really childish: we played a game together and instead of enjoying it afterwards, the other team runs home, skulking.
It's back to Realms Beyond for me.She said 'Your nose is running honey' I said 'Sorry but it's not'

I would still like to see Imperio's forums, so don't discount them just because they are in Spanish, please. I would think Krill would know better than to think I wouldn't be interested. He is welcome to explain that to everyone else, or tell anyone anything I did or said. I have very little pride to protect, here or anywhere.
Herc's miracles existed mostly earlier in the game, but my praises are simply for hard work on his part.

I've opened all forums, except the Templars forum.
I'll wait for a solution there.
Regarding the Apolyton Admin.
We are very happy to provide the resources to you guys to organise the game. The Apolyton Admins themselves aren't dedicated organising this game.
This is being done by some Apolyton members.
I have not been made aware of the problems. I would have been more then happy to help wherever needed.
I'm sorry if that means that we did not met your expectations regarding this game and I am sorry that some of you are dissapointed in Apolyton right now because of this.
Apolyton is not performing very well, I know that and we all know that.
We, Jeroen and me, took over Apolyton with the desire to get Apolyton back on track again. That's a process that will take some time. I hope you understand.
In the meanwhile I'm sorry that we let you down. Please next time contact us if there are problems! We are certainly happy to address issues, if we are capable to. But we can't if we don't know.Formerly known as "CyberShy"

I think the biggest problem was that this game lacked a sponsor/sponsors with a clear vision of how the map should be set-up, how rules should be enforced, etc, etc. I know the idea was to give the teams a say, but it's clear that voting for a terra map was pointless; sometimes players have to be saved from themselves!
This lead to Team RB trying to mediate in a early Rabbits-PAL dispute. Thankfully, Krill volunteered as game admin (as well as historian), but we could have saved a lot of hassle by having this sorted out when the invitations to the game were being sent out.

Clear rules are important indeed.
If there's a clear rule that the forums will be opened, please show me, and I will open the Templar's forum.
Regading the map, please give me a link to the map so that I can look at it and remember why and how I made it.Formerly known as "CyberShy"
