Just took a test with an as yet unclaimed civ. Seems like the first player to enter said civ has to set the password or leave it open. (I didn't log in, just looked if I had one or two lines to put the password in)

Locutus, if you entered your teams password for those other 2 civs, they'll have a problem logging in. If you haven't, it might be those 2 teams can't give in their choosen password anymore. Those teams need to test that.

Methos, if you had the choice of entering our team password, we're 'protected' then.

Don't know if there's an option to set the passwords before any player logs in, so this could be normal.
It sounds like the teams Locutus transgressed will have to decide whether he has to leave or not.

In any case, this could have been avoided if Snoopy had entered each civ and set the password for each team before anybody else checked in.

RB is in. I've set our password.

Locutus, you might have to reset the password of the civs you've logged in as to allow them to access the game. I think it should be that CIV's decision on what to do about your knowledge.

PS This is also the first time playing wit PitBoss for me, so at first I tried to host a game instead of joining it.

I didn't set any passwords, because (a) I had assumed team passwords were set by the admin at game setup time, (b) I wouldn't know how and (c) I'm not stupid, I'm not gonna log other civs out of their game

Yeah, I assumed the former, I think we (or those of us that are new to Pitboss anyway) now know that the latter is actually the case. That's bad design IMO, but then again, I guess this is only ever really an issue for DG games, not for regular Pitboss games...

Oh, wait, I guess when I first entered the password that set the team password? That sucks... How do I reset them?

That's strange. It asked me to set the password before I could enter the game. (And the name Realms Beyond was already set for our civ for some reason.)

EDIT This was cross-posted with Locutus.

To add something still relevant, does anybody know why our team's name was already set but the password wasn't? And which team is playing which CIV? (Besides the teams I saw online while checking out the game.)

When it asked for your password, did it only ask once, or twice? When I logged in I had to set the password and confirm it a second time. It stated that if I didn't want it to be protected, I could just leave it blank, but then anyone could access the team.

I also had to set the team name. I hoped Rob spelled it correctly in the thread I copy/pasted from.

Alt-D when you are in the game will allow you to reset the password and some other things IIRC.

Argh, the game crashes now when I try to log in, I wanted to figure out if I could reset the passwords. So let's do it like this: someone from the teams that play as either the Incans, Mayans or Chinese should contact me and I'll tell them the password I used for all three of those civs, so that they can log in and change it. I could post it here publicly, but that would temporarily allow anyone to log in as any of those civs, I think we want to avoid that as well.

If you can, try logging in again. I'm out of the server now so it's free.

Okay, I rebooted, I can now load the game again, but I can't figure out how to change the passwords. Nothing happens when I press Alt-D, and when I go to Your Details I can see a bunch of stars in the password field, but when I change the value in there nothing happens, password is still the same.

I tried everything I could think of, unless I missed something I don't think it's even possible to reset or even change a team's password once its set That would suck, as we'd have 3 teams with the same password, we'll have to ask snoopy to restart the game if that's the case.

Perhaps Snoopy can still adapt the passwords (admin rights).
Would hate to lose my team current starting position.

                            I hope so.

If not, I would assume that since we're working with a premade map snoopy can just start a new game with the same map, so no one would lose their starting position or anything (it would just delay the game for another day or so again )

You need to contact Locutus for access.
