Yes...Retirement can be a living hell with a crowded schedule like that.

I thought not, but if someone can correct me I'd be most happy, as this is the one feature about multiplayer civ that annoys me most.....
I have not heard of that being done and don't know if its possible quite frankly.

I don't know why he saved my life. Maybe in those last moments he loved life more than he ever had before. Not just his life - anybody's life, my life. All he'd wanted were the same answers the rest of us want. Where did I come from? Where am I going? How long have I got? All I could do was sit there and watch him die.

I *think* it's possible to mask it somewhat. At least in a LAN Final Frontier game with a friend it worked. I'll try to test it.

Okay... I think enabling the marked option (anonymous) masks the teams from one another as long as we don't use a familiar teamname instead of the civname. It hides the nick of the player for sure. That I could test.

OK, but we'd still know 'Player 1' is Monty (for example) though, even though we haven't met him yet???

Yes, but as long as the teams don't make public which civ they've choosen nobody is the wiser.
The same holds as long as all contacts between teams are conducted in the diplomatic screen only. Only a familiar 'post pattern' might be recognized by alert members of the other team.

Maybe it does not work with custom games and/or MP but I was thinking from my SP experience; when you start the game it is not revealed what other civs are out there.

Are we going to get a picture of our starting positions for each team in their forum? This will help with each team so they can get a strategy to go for.

Er, maybe I'm being a bit dense here, but how will you know who to send your treaties to? Do all the diplomacy ingame?

Well, I was going to offer to be the game historian so I can read all of the forums and resurrect The Eye, but I doubt anyone wants me to do that.
