  • To patch, or not to patch........

This is an open posting poll so all game participants are free to post their opinion on the matter. As the decision of this poll will affect everyone I thought it best to make it an open poll rather than a team leader poll.

    Options are :

1 : Let's start straight away, get your team civilization choices in to CyberShy as soon as possible! He will then require a few days to make and tweak the map.

2 : Let's wait until Sunday 20th April, get your team civilization choice to CyberShy by then. He will then require a few days to make and tweak the map.

3 : Let's wait until Sunday 27th April, get your team civilization choice to CyberShy by then. He will then require a few days to make and tweak the map.

4 : Let's wait until the patch comes out, whenever that may be. All teams have one week to get their civilization choice to CyberShy from date of patch release. He will then require a few days to make and tweak the map.

If we decide to start before the final patch comes out, I suggest we take the game down for a few days when the patch is finally released, so everyone has a chance to update, then no-one misses a turn through patching problems....

THIS POSTING POLL WILL REMAIN OPEN FOR 4 DAYS!!!!

I vote to wait until the patch is out. We've waited this long, we might as well wait a bit longer.

Edit for ease of tallying: 4

Hum, I propose #2 with the addition that should there not be an offical patch, that the game be played with Bhuric's unoffical patch.

Rest assured, there will be an official patch, it is just the timing that is an unknown.....

Considering how badly RB had suffered from delaying its events for a patch that was "just aroung the corner", I'd recommend against option 4 if you want to have more than one team left by the time patch comes out. We've already lost 2-3 teams, and the patch hasn't even been anounced yet.

I vote for option 1 - start the game before all remaining teams lose interest. (A lot of RB members are frustrated with how long the setup is taking and while our team is unlikely to disband, the interest level is dropping.)

                #2 - April 20th sounds good.

Team Banana has already started talking about civ/leader choices, so we should be able to finish that up before then, no problem.

By the time we're done with map tweaking, resolving leader choice conflicts, etc. it will probably be almost May 1st. Hopefully the long-awaited patch will be out by then. But I'd rather not wait indefinitely for that patch - something completely out of our control shouldn't be a setup requirement, IMHO.

I'd rather play this game sooner instead of later. Especially when we have not a hint about how much later "later" is going to be.

I'd prefer to have that patch right, whenever instead of buggy, now. That patch can be as late as it wants, as long as they fix everything they reasonably can. I've got all the patience in the world for that.

The Templars started talking about what civ we'd be as soon as our forum was set up. We're still doing so.
But we've now started the voting process.

Anyway, I find the bugs in 3.13 without Bhruic's fixes to make SP virtually unplayable. Perhaps it's not quite as bad if we don't start with any AIs, since that seemed to be where most of those bugs were. As I recal though, one of the bugs Bhruic fixed had to do with a civ's that's a master of other civs capitulating. (And his former vasals getting a free peace deal.)

                        That's the latest.

More on the if we start before the offical patch should we use Bhuric's patch: On Civ Fanatic's recently started BTS DG (Single; NOT multi) they used their HOF mod which for gameplay purposes amounts to an old version of Bhuric's mod.

Out of curiosity - and ignorance - what major issues was this patch intended to address and/or improve?

Any gameplay issues/changes we face should affect all civ's equally.

If there are changes to your chosen civ's UU or UB or your leaders traits are tough luck IMO.
I don't know why he saved my life. Maybe in those last moments he loved life more than he ever had before. Not just his life - anybody's life, my life. All he'd wanted were the same answers the rest of us want. Where did I come from? Where am I going? How long have I got? All I could do was sit there and watch him die.
