What about starting and then patching when available? I'd be much more inclined to start if we know we'll patch later.

Umm - yeah - what Dave_Shack said.
I was working under the presumption that #2 really meant - start soon, patch when it comes out.I don't know why he saved my life. Maybe in those last moments he loved life more than he ever had before. Not just his life - anybody's life, my life. All he'd wanted were the same answers the rest of us want. Where did I come from? Where am I going? How long have I got? All I could do was sit there and watch him die.

I vote for option 1 - start the game before all remaining teams lose interest. (A lot of RB members are frustrated with how long the setup is taking and while our team is unlikely to disband, the interest level is dropping.)

My understanding is that once the Host patches - the game patches - so all turn players will need to patch.I don't know why he saved my life. #1. Every time we ever chose to "wait for the patch" at Realms Beyond, we always ended up regretting it. Waiting another 10 days won't achieve anything. This game has been in planning since January; if the teams haven't figured out their civs yet, something seriously strange is going on behind the scenes. We've already lost one team, and the captain of another team during these lengthy delays. The longer this game waits to start, the less likely it is to ever finish.
Frankly, I'm not sure another patch is ever coming from Firaxis. Even if so, they're certainly much more concerned with the upcoming release of Civ: Revolutions than working on a patch for a three-year old game.
